| Hygiene question How do you guys get rid of all that brown stain that comes out of your yorkie's eyes? yuck! I've tried to clean his face & eyes with water but the stains dont go away that easy and I dont want to scrub his face hard. Is there a lotion/oil/cream or something I can buy to help me get him rid of those ugly stains? Thanks. |

| Are you talking about tear stains? Bentley ALWAYS has them... He cries if you tell him no... We just say he's very sensitive, he doesn't like to get into trouble. He tucks his ears back and the tears start rolling. It's cute. He also gets them with the cold weather... In between baths I just take a baby wipe and his come right off. |

| If you take a fine-toothed comb, like a flea comb & I prefer the plastic ones and get close to the eye and comb through the hair. It will get all those eye boogers out. Works for me...

| That is so funny - we call them eye boogers too. My husband cleans them from Maxi's eyes. I suppose he'll have to do coco's too. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Tear staining is very bad with light colored doggies like shih's and maltese. It used to drive me nuts with my shih when I had him. You definitely need to clean the boogies regularly with a rag with warm water and another good thing to do is trim the hair there. It pokes them in the eyes thus causing the tears and the staining. I had noticed it a lot with lex when his eye hair was getting long so I am getting him used to me trimming it. What I learned this week becuase he hates when I get near his eyes is while I have him in the sink soaking wet I take the hairs by the eye there and sort of twirl them so then I can sneak in really fast with my little palm clippers and get the hair off. When it's dry it is harder to do because you have to go slower. While it was wet and clumped up it was easy with one little swipe. It also went fast because he loves his bath/spa time so he was super duper relaxed and in a fog. Good luck...I hate the stainign and seeing the boogies too.

| I just wipe the eye boogies off with puppy wipes and then comb thru to get them out. It works great, plus keep those hairs that go into the eyes trimmed.
