| Ears I'm a new Yorkie owner and was wondering...do I have to tape his ears? He is 12 weeks old. Any advice is appreciated! |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Are his ears trimmed? Because that's important to encourage them to be up. If you haven't trimmed them, I would do that and wait a couple of weeks to see what happens. Otherwise you may have to tape them. |

| Its perfectly natural to have floppy ears at 12 weeks, if by 18 / 20 weeks your ears are still down, then I would look into taping if thats what you want to do. Remember unless your Yorkie is destined for showing / breeding, having pointy ears doesn't matter. My girl looks adorable with her one pointy, one floppy ears (both perk up if she is alert). |

| i start shaving my puppies ears at three-four weeks. if they aren't standing at eight or nine weeks into the tape they go. usually if they are not up by six months or even four, they are not going up. |

| I think they're cute either way. We just decided to let Thumper's do whatever they were going to do on their own. We didn't shave or tape his ears. They were kind of half standing/half floppy once he got a little older (that might have been because he needed them trimmed) It looked so cute though. When he got his first haircut at 5 months they were completely standing. The very first day i got him (at 7 weeks), we took him with us to a pet store and an employee who was also a yorkie breeder said "I hope they didn't tell you that his ears would stand because they won't" lol I love when people are so sure of themselves and are totally wrong. |

I think I will do what you said and just let them do what they are going to do on their own and not stress out about it. Thanks! |

| I think my Otis is adorable with floppy ears. I kept waiting, and waiting....never happened, but I didn't trim his ears so that probably didn't help. He's so cute! I can't imagine him any other way. check out the avatar.
