Am I psycho?
 
I know I am probably preaching to the converted: But does anyone out there ever worry that they are psycho for loving their dog so much? I really feel like I'm Archie's MOTHER! He's constantly in my thoughts. I just love him so much I can hardly stand it. I'm single, over 40 and have never had children -- something about which I've always been sad. But since I've had Archie, the sadness around not being a mother has lessened (which, I guess, is a good thing!). I just wonder if it's normal to have such a strong maternal feeling for an animal. Uggh! I can't even stand to call him an animal -- he's my BABY!!!:wub:

You might be classed as 'psycho' by people who dont own yorkies but here??? no definately not you are quite normal! In fact here at YT we are all 'owned' by our yorkies not the other way round lol. I know how you feel although i have 2 skin kids i really would have liked no.3 but that is where Pippa came in.

I can totally relate to you...I am 31 and have not had any children either. My husband and I got into raising min pins and I treated them as if they were my children. When Ki Ki had babies I never wanted to get rid of any of them. I finally talked my hubby into letting me keep one from her last litter. She, Ginger is spoiled rotten. Well now I have Braxton and was worried Ginger was not going to accept him. Thank God she has and they are getting along fine. I treat them both just like they are my babies cause this is how I truly feel. They go every where with me. I pack them a bag when we leave just as a mother does her baby....lol NO I don't think you and I are psycho we just love our babies...I can't even bare to call them the D word....:)

:p If you are psycho .... we all are!!! I can't even remember life before Toto and the neat thing is .... unlike skinkids, Toto is well-behaved and actually does what we ask!! ;)

I agree totally...if you are psycho, than so am I!! I do have skin kids (who are now adults), but Sissy and Angel are still my babies and I treat them as such.

Yes, you are psycho and so am I, but not to worry! :D I have had 3 human sons, but feel the same. I never dreamed I could feel like this about dogs. I have always had dogs and loved them, but more as dogs. Yorkies need another species to belong to -- they are just a special part of the family! I don't like saying "my dogs" when referring to Ben and Sadie either -- they are just a whole lot more! (Of course they pee on the floor just often enough to keep me grounded.)

I Totally Agree, I Have A Daughter Who Is 21, And I Have All The Loved Up Feeling For Harvey As Well......

I Too Have Had Dogs Before And Loved Them A Lot But Harvey Is Just On Another Level..... I Cant Understand It Myself At Times.

I Dont Have Anyone Else Except My Husband And Daughter Who Thinks This Way. As All My Friends Think Dogs Are Dogs And Should Be Treated As Such. Sometimes I Am A Little Embarrased About How I Feel About Him - So I Dont Tell Them Much.

That Is Why It Is Sooooooo Good To Be Able To Talk About Him To Like Minded And Besotted People......

oh, i am the same. when i am out a restaraunt with friends, i am always in a hurry to get home to maggie. i think about her constantly when i am not with her.

i think there are a lot of people here with the same feelings :)

My granddaughter's new Yorkie, Sammy, is certainly being treated like a new baby and loved beyond anything some people could understand. She was a member of the family before she came to their home and her every want and need is anticipated and met. I belong to a Bichon List and this comment is made every day - these little dogs are our furkids and we love them just like family. Love is so normal and healthy and who could keep from loving these sweet little dogs, be they Yorkies or Bichons (or great danes or golden retrievers or mastiffs)? So many of the comments on the Yorkie forum sound just like the comments on the Bichon List. It's just impossible to love them more than they love us. You can't get a deal like that anywhere else!

Glad to know I'm not the only one that feels this way about my pups. My boyfriend calls me the "psycho yorkie mom," but he's just as crazy about them as I am! :D

i feel the same way . over 40, single again. no children and will never have.
just lexi, and she is my heart and thats the story.... last night i just gave her
my doll i had as a child. you know the kind of dolls you give to your children,
well she has it now in her room.. now whos the psycho??? not only you

Psycho and loving mommy should not even be used in the same sentence. You are perfectly normal. Furthermore, you are blessed to have such joy in your life. Celebrate it!!!!!!!!!

Psyco?? I sure hope not. I have 5 grown kids, and 9 grandchildren that I love to death; but the thing on my mind 24 7 is sawyer. he gives me such love and affection, never questions my decisions, doesn't care if I weigh too much, or don't wear the coolest clothes, and never holds a grudge. God must have given purpose to all of his creatures, and said" Lets make one just to bring joy; but lets make him a scamp too so no one gets bored, and lets call him YORKIE!:hearts-xx :hearts-xx

I am in the same boat, no kids lost my son now I am 50 so what to do ? join the million other crazy Yorkie owners. I am looking for another to keep MIM's company. She has all the things a girl should have (before I even reveived her):eek: She is my daughter with pretty bags sundresses so how is crazy now:confused: A crown 3 beds in a 2 bedroom cottage, snow shoes for the snow we have been getting.Every tee shirt and hoddie PetSmart has so I think you OK no worries:thumbup:
