No offense to anyone in this thread that is buying or bought a purebred, but I don't agree with it at all. I have 3 mixes, and I will never buy a mix again ( I would RESCUE, but not purchase from a "breeder"). I agree they are "different" and cute, but practically everyone breeding these dogs is adding to the overpopulation problem and are usually bybs or puppymills. There is no health testing done on most of them and no standard to attempt to reach. Reputable breeders would not mix a dog, they only attempt to better the breed. I only bring this up because I wish someone would have told me some of these facts before I spent tons of money on dogs that came from puppymills and byb's. They are healthy right now thank goodness and I hope they continue to be.. but I just had to add my .02 here. |

I too have a Jack R/Beagle mix..He is so smart and was soooooooo full of engery all the time. He is getting on in years now and slowed down some But he was a handful. I can not picture a yorkie/Jack mix..Sounds like joyful troubles. |
We had to have our jack russell put down this summer due to cancer. he was a wonderful dog, very smart, loving, and the easiest dog to house train I ever had. We had to take our carpets up because of the shedding, and have ceramic tile floors put in. I had wanted a yorkie for many years, and I was ready to love another little angel when I got sawyer. he is all i wanted and more. he doesn't take the place of Sam, he is his own little character. As much as I loved sam, I would never want a different dog than a yorkie . A yorkie is an experience all in its own, very unique, with different traits and habits. But every yorkie I have ever seen has a style all their own. If you are looking for a pet quality puppy, you can find purebreeds out there for the same price as a mixed. I am not knocking mixed breeds; but a pure yorkie is something every dog lover should get to experience at least once. No matter what you get, it sounds like you will be a very loving mommy. Have fun finding the right baby for you:animal36 :animal36 |

I know many people think they won't have as many health issues as purebred dogs or that they are really unique and different. I know that I thought that when I purchased mine. I think that all dogs are special and wonderful and I don't take a thing away from mixed breeds. I love my mixed furkids so much! I just didn't know a thing about puppymills or even overpopulation and the role irresponsible breeding plays in it. They have no part in any wrong doing, it is the breeders that just haphazardly throw different pairings together with no regard for either breed or the dogs in general that are the problem. Sorry to take over the thread and go off on my rant. I've just spent so many nights thinking about the parents of my dogs and it makes me so sad to know I supported that in any way. |
