| Whats under YOUR carpet? My carpet was put down in 2000. First thing I did was get a carpet cleaner. You can see where I ran my finger thought the sand that was underneath the carpet. I don't understand how this much sand could possibly get through the carpet AND padding, but somehow, it did. Carpet is coming up, as Venus has 3 spots she likes to pee in. I don't care how much you shampoo, or what you shampoo with, still never gets it to where she's can't smell it and go there again. Lot of remodeling going on, and most of this I'm doing myself. So I may be pretty scarce around here till mid summer or so. |

| When i had my 1st flat we were very lucky!!! When we pulled our carpet up it had original parquet flooring underneath which we cleaned up and never had carpet after that.

| I'll agree with you. When we lifted our carpet I thought I was living in a sandy beach. YUCK! |

| Maybe it is where we live -- we had the same experience, lots and lots of sand. I was embarrassed until the carpet guy said they are all like that. We had new carpet put in 4 years ago. The dogs we had then were all housebroke and I figured light carpet was a safe bet. Then along came Ben and Sadie! We figure when we replace this carpet, we will pull it out ourselves because I know there are literally hundreds of little pee stains underneath. I am begging for laminate too.... but it is such a big house, it may be a while.
