| Did your dog change after neuter/spay? I am planning to have Hannah spayed before she goes into heat but I have a several people tell me that she will never be the same. I have heard that they get withdrawn and hateful. Is this true? Also I want to have my golden retriever neutered because he is humping everything that moves but my husband wont let me, he says he will get mean. Is any of this true? I would appreciate any responses of those who have been through this. |

| Absolutely not. Both of my boyz are neutered and they are the most lovable little guys...our first Yorkie was too and he was a total Mama's boy. We've never had a female dog turn mean from being spayed either. |

| Bella was fixed just a month ago. She was 7mo. and had never had a heat either. She is EXACTLY the same! She is the same playful puppy she was before. She had no problem with regression on potty training or personality. I'm sorry people have been telling you this, I hope it doesn't change you mind.

| It doesn't change my mind at all, but I want to keep my same Hannah. I want her to be just like she was before. Do you think it is best to have them spayed before they go into heat? |

| woops, I forgot to put a serious answer to your question. none of my dogs have shown any change in behavior from being spayed or neutered except one. he changed for the good. he never played until after he was neutered.

| Cody and Abby (father's, sis's Yorkies) both gained weight after their spay and neuter. Abby gained quite a bit and had to be put on a "doggie diet." She actually had an allergic reaction to the sutures used and became ill and wouldn't eat anything for a bit. Cody stopped marking in the house and whining when our dog (who doens't live there) was in heat, but he didn't start doing that until AFTER he was used as a stud. |

| Sachi gained quite a bit of weight after being neutered, but to be fair, he was "preoccupied" with trying to hook up with my female beforehand. |

| That's great!! I don't think you should wait for a heat. It puts her at too many risks (cancer) and if you plan to do it anyway why wait??

| I was worried about her weight. She weighed 2.8 lbs a few weeks ago. Is she too little to have surgery? She will be 6months old in 2 weeks. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | We're putting off getting Maddie spayed for the same reason..... Tucker didn't change at all after getting neutered. But we've kept in touch with his breeder, and after his litter they got her spayed. apperantly she got pretty nasty afterwords. Maddie also had a litter (or two?) before we got her. She has the sweetest temperment right now, but I'm worried that if we get her spayed she'll turn mean. We may just not have her fixed.

| For the health of your girl, i would suggest you get her spayed. i lost two female dogs to cancer because of not being spayed. Its a very sad and crippling disease. Very hard to watch a animal suffer with cancer. Please reconsider.. |

| Both my dogs got way better after being "fixed". Dixie was two and had had a couple of heats (I'd been thinking about breeding her). She turned out to have a uterine infection and severe endometriosis. She's soooo much more playful, energetic and happy now. I wish I'd done it sooner so she needn't have suffered. And Dougal's a lot calmer and mellower. A much nicer dog to be around.

| All the little angels I have had in the past were fixed and it did not change them one bit! My little Raisin was like a little pup again, she was 9 when I did it when she had her teeth done. I don't think it changes them at all. |

| I had my furbaby Neutered at 9months dont know why i waited so long, but all in all i did it. He is like an old soul when he's playing he's all over the place but he is just fine laying beside me watching some tv. He used to hump before only his little bed the spare one and i must say his attitude has not changed one bit. He is still the same ol Rocky that i love he is not mean he still humps because it's in their nature Neutering him wont make him stop so do go by that. I think it all depends on how you bring them up and act with them after the surgery i would say that i dont regret having him neutered i can say that at least i can have my consience clear of all the risks of not having him Neutered.
