| puppy mills in Florida I have been visiting Florida for about 3 weeks now and going to flea markets. I have never seen so many puppies for sale in my life and some of the poor things look so bad it makes me sick. I almost bought this one puppy cause it looked so lost then i didn't want to support a puppy mill but i didn't want to leave the poor thing there. Boy was it a strugle to walk away I wish there was something that could be done about them. Does anyone else run into the puppies at flea markets? |

| Which flea markets did you go to? I'd like to investigate a bit further. Thanks

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | It's SICKENING that they are allowed to sell these puppies at Flea Markets many of them are smuggled in from Mexico and I truly believe why we are seeing such an increase in Parvo....I wish the states would all get together and stop this - it's inhumane to have these poor puppies sitting outside all day just so these freakin people can make a few bucks Buyers don't realize they're looking at potential heartbreak not to mention these poor puppies often have NO medical care or vaccines |

| I know of two flea markets in my area of Florida that sell pups! Actually a friend of mine just got taken in by one of the sellers there. I told her that I would help her IF and WHEN she decided to get a puppy. But they went to the flea market and fell in love!!! Paid $300 for a "designer dog." A mix of dauhsand and maltese. The little pup has had the runs with green slime and the seller dropped off some med in the mailbox for the dog. They went back to the flea market on Sunday and confronted her about taking the little pup to the vet. The Seller said that she would take the pup to he own vet.....but would not pay for my friend's vet. So my friend wanted to go with her to the vet..............make a long story short, the seller gave every excuse in the book not to have her tag along to the vet using no room to a great distance away. She is suppose to call my friend this morning to see what can be worked out. I explained to her about these dogs at flea markets in a kind way but she is in love! And the little girl is darling. So guess we will see how this plays out. But the business card my friend was given.....has about six different breeds on the card! Hmmm, tells me alot! So anyway...............the heart strings get tugged at these poor babies but I would never buy from a flea market. Just looking for problems when you do! I am about to call and see how the little one is doing. So that is my take on flea market puppy sellers!!!!

| We occasionally go walk through out local flea markets (NW FL) I have not seen anyone selling puppies. Once I did see someone with a litter of mixed breed puppies -- but they were giving them away. We have a nice flea market that also has little shops -- one just opened a pet shop there -- but just supplies and once in a whle a bird or two.

| The USA flea market on route 19 in Port Ritchey sells puppies all the time, and as we all know it gets really hot down here. They have 3-4 pups in one cage. It is sickenining to see them with their little tongues hanging out. |

he spoke spanish but I know he understood me - the minute he heard me say the word Policia he started flipping me off. Rather than get shot I left but when I came back 45 minutes later he was gone. I wish I had found a cop and got them to see if he had a venders license and vet certificates but we all know he didn't. I had those puppies on my mind for days afterwords but haven't seen that man again | |

| There is a flea Market in Fort Myers that sells puppies also. I talked to the lady & she said she breeds herself. That many different kinds I asked. She was nasty, & so were the puppies. I felt so bad for them. She was selling them for a lower price, so alot of people seemed interested in them. Even the toys & extras she had set up were all dirty from all the dust. My sister & I kept walking, I didn't buy a thing from her.

| I don't know about the rest of you, but this brings tears to my eyes as much as that degenerate baking that poor little pup in the oven! What can we do? How can we help? I want to do something to put an end to this. Does ANYONE have a law degree or any experience to tell someone how they can best help? I feel so strongly about this and I'm not just talking flea markets although that's a start. I'm talking closing down puppymills. I'm one voice...a very energetic, strong voice, but only one voice. But together, I wonder what we could accomplish!

| I've never been to that flew market but the one in Webster and the one on Spring Hill Drive and US41 sells puppies............that is the one my friend bought hers from. She is so upset and wishes she had talked to me before she bought hers. They've already offered to give her the money back rather than deal with her insistance on going to the vet to see what is wrong with her. Seller is willing to take the dog to the vet but does not want her along!

| And that is exactly what I told my friend. I told her to insist that she is going because she may continue to use the vet since he has cared for this little one since birth (suppposedly). I told her INSIST that she goes along. Tell the seller that as a new puppy owner, she has a few questions to ask him also. I haven't heard back yet from her so I am hoping she convinced the seller to let her to with!!!
