| Tia is Home! For anyone how read my earlier posts, good news! Tia is home! I spoke to the second vet and the breeder and found out more information. I found a vet that could do the surgery for $450 cad each knee (plus other medications she would need). I found that what this vet said corresponded well with what the breeder said. I learned that we may have over reacted to what our vet said because we were new parents, and because she doesn't have much experience in the practice. After reviewing all the research we did, all the advice we recieved and weighing our options, we knew what we needed to do. As for the pet shop....they gave us Tia AND they refunded every penny we paid for her. We are going to put that money into an account to be used in the future for Tia (and if she doesn't need it, then we'll use it to buy another Yorkie). The funny thing is that the manager of the store wants us to bring her a paper from the vet, signed, that states that she WILL need the surgery. I think that's ridiculous and beside the point. The bottom line is that they sold us a dog with a condition she was born with. As far as we're concerned, we have Tia, and the money....we never have to deal with that store again. I'll post pictures of her soon! In the meantime we're playing and waiting for my husband to come home from work. Thanks again for your support and advice! Liz and Tia |
