| Do opposite sexes get along better? Do yorkies of the opposite sex get along better than say 2 males. We have a male and would like a female. We don't want to have any male dominance issues (even though both will be fixed). I have been told 2 completely opposite things from tons of people (breeders, Vet, other dog owners, dog behavior books etc)...some say 2 males get along better (and that males are easier than females)...while others say that there are often dominance issues when you have 2 males and so we would be better off with a female next! Can you please share your experience with this topic....I am so confused! I really want a female and we are looking at one now so hopefully having a male and female around the same age has worked for some of you!

| My male yorkies are the best of friends. They get along great and share the same kennel to sleep in at night when it is their turn to sleep in the cage. I rotate everyone out each night. The females seem to get a little testier with each other at times. I am pretty lucky because all of my dogs are buddies and get along so well together. The males and females get along great too so I dont think you would have problems either way. |

| I had a good laugh when I read male dominance issues . My females are more dominant than a male could ever be . |

| I have a male and a female and they get along very good. I dont have any jealousy problems. Every now and then one will growl at the other like the other night chachi was laying on the couch and Jewels walked on his head and he growled at her. It happens so rarely though. I got them both when they were puppies though and I think that makes a big difference too in how they adjust to each other

| You know, I've seen it all, and have to say it really doesn't matter what the sex is. It's in the breeding and personality and the way you are raising them. |

| I totally agree with this. There are so many differing opinions on which sex gets along best with the other. I really believe the personality/disposition of the dog is the deciding factor.

| I've never had 2 males but my male and female get along great. Abbie is a year younger than Max. They share the same food and water bowl. They each have their own crate but sometimes I'll wake up in the morning and I'll find Max in Abbie's crate. The only time they fight--and this is very recent--is when I give them a talking rose toy. I recently bought 1 and the literally were fighting over it--I even have pictures So I had to buy more so that they each have one

| I have a male and a female and they are the best of friends. Mayzie (female) I would say is the more dominant of the two but they goth get along great. Mayzie is 13 months and Mo is 3.
