| Nature..Sheesh! Some of you may remember I posted about a hawk taking a closer look at Gus and to protect him I now have to keep him on a leash. Well, today I had Gus on a long lead in the backyard and to Gus' delight a baby bird lands a few feet away. We both race toward it but of course Gus gets there first. I try to grab Gus, the bird gets loose flies a few feet but Gus gets him again. Finally I got a good grip on Gus and brought him in the house. The bird was hurt and hiding in the corner. His mom kept flying to a low tree and calling to him. Eventually he made it over the fence and I can't find him. I hope he flew away. I've got a big bird that wants to eat my little dog and a little dog that wants to eat little birds. Sheesh! I took a picture so you wouldn't think I'm making this stuff up. The green is plastic mesh to keep Gus from slipping through the fence.

| Yep they love the birds!! Chachi just the other day found a little baby bird that was in our yard. I stopped him before he got to it. It sounds like Gus had fun on his little hunt!!!

| I do remember the hawk story! Gus had quite the adventure today! LOL I have an aviary full of birds and Maddie would love to get them all! So far she hasn't...if a bird get's out, I quickly grab Maddie in one arm and catch the bird with the other. |

| My westie caught a little bird that flew into our window this weekend. I was so upset, but you are right, it is nature i guess. |

| Boy, Connie you are fast. I had trouble just getting a hold on Gus. I read about your birds...you have such a nice website. Kim, it is upsetting. He was so tiny. When he was just sitting in the corner I didn't know what to do. He perked up when his mom came back. I hope he was just stunned and was able to fly again.

| We live in the country so hawks are a real nuisance. Last week I was outside with Sophie and counted *12* hawks circling really high overhead. We have 3 barn swallow nests around our house, so the mom & dad were flying around the hawks, nipping at their backs so that they couldn't get to their babies. It was really funny to watch |
