| your opinion... I have heard several times on here not to give yorkies raw hides because of the choking risk. our other 2 dogs are bigger and LOVE them. we give them to them quite often. well, I refuse to give maggie one because of the possible risk but she is constantly wanting to take them from our other dogs. I feel so bad not giving her one. what are your opinions on rawhides? do you give them? do you agree with the choking hazard? Is there something similar I can buy for maggie that she would love....BESIDES THE BULLY STICKS ?? thanks for your help, again

| not just the choking risk with the raw hides but also it is not digested and it gathers in the stomach. I gave given mine the chew-eeze that i found in walmart. they look like raw hide. they have chicken and beef flavors. mine love the chicken flavor. Ahia got hooked on these things and i don't give her one for a long time in between. she loves them.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali likes to chew on the rawhide sticks but I always watch her and when she gets a piece all soggy and close to being able to swallow it I cut it off and give it back to her.

| Rawhides can also cause a blockage in the intestine. My vet says the rawhide that is crumbled then pressed together (can't think what it's called) won't cause blockages, but can still pose a choking hazard. I don't give any kind of rawhides to any of my dogs just to be safe. Here's a site with some info on the hazards of rawhides: http://www.bdnhumanesociety.com/rawhides.htm

| thanks for all the helpful info. I would rather be safe than sorry so she will not be getting any in fact, we may have to find something else for the other dogs too. just to be safe
