| help! my new puppy rocco Ok guys, yesterday we welcomed rocco to our home, you can see him in the my babies thread of the my yorkie section of the page. anyways, everything was fine and dandy and just this morning i was playing around with him, and just rubbing him and i noticed a small lump on his back. Its not something we noticed in any of the visits to the breeders house before actually getitng him. he seems healthy and has had all the shots needed so far,. my question is, is this lump something i should be worried about?, we're taking him to the vet first time tomorrow, cause thats as soon as we can,...but any advice? should we call the breeder,...or anything. thanks |

| Did he get a shot recently? Sometimes after they get a shot it leaves a litttle bump for awhile.

| This reminded me of the first day I had my first yorkie. It was around 11:30 pm on a Saturday night and while petting him I noticed a tiny lump on his back toward his left shoulder. Of course I assumed the worst and got very upset. I was waiting until Monday to take him to my vet (I wasn't close to home) but there was a free vet visit so I called that number. I thought I would get a machine and ask if they would call me the next day but the vet picked up the phone. I could tell I woke him up but told him I was freaking out, I just got this puppy and it had this lump, ect. In a tired but extremely patient voice he said, "Is your puppy microchipped?" He was and that is what the lump was, I had forgot about it and just panicked. I was so embarrassed but very relieved. Could that be what it is?

| How big is the lump? If it is relatively small it could be the microchip like Erin says. If he has had shots recently, it is likely to be that. I would give it a couple of days, give the lump time to go down if it is a shot and if it doesn't or gets bigger in the mean time or you are still worried, get the vet to give him a check over. |
