I am pretty sure their fur/hair continues to grow for their entire life just like ours does. lol I think how thick and long it will be depends on the genetics of the dog. As with people, some of us have thin hair, some thick. It's the same with yorkies.

i believe the hair would not stop growing just because the dog itself has.

| My Ruby is a Shorkie (Shih Tzu/Yorkie) and her hair keeps on growing....although it is much thinner right now than it was a month ago because it is getting hot here. But, both Yorkie & Shih Tzu have hair that continues to grow, so that is why.

He just needs time , after all he is a baby . Just to make you laugh , the other day , a woman came to my house and when she saw one of my puppies , she told me " Sorry to tell you this but your puppy is not a pure one because he don't have long fur like his mother and he is black and tan " . I told her " Can you imagine a full coated puppy with a bow on his head coming out of the mother ? " Don't worry , he'll grow a coat .

Simon's hair was very thin and short for a long time then I swear one day we woke up and it was all there And it keeps growing. I get them groomed every 4 months becuase it grows so fast! Don't worry, you'll look at him one day and wonder where all the hair came from

Oscar is six months old, and I've been wondering the same thing about his hair! He's definitely going through the color change, but the length hasn't started except for his head and legs.
