| Question about marking territory Bentley does pretty good at using the litter box. I would say he is about 90% potty trained. The other night we noticed a wet spot by the bottom of our steps and it smelled like urine but we've never seen him go there. If he is marking his territory would he still use the box or would he continue to pee in that one spot. I give him a treat whenever he goes potty just to reinforce it and I know sometimes he like only goes a little at a time to get more treats lol. SOmetimes he will just hop in and out with out doing anything but I dont give him a treat for that. But last night no one was down there to give him a treat or anything and he went in the box twice but that wet spot was at the steps again. Im just confused on if he is marking his territory why would he go there and in the box? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I don't have a boy but that sure is smart (& CUTE) that he only goes a little at a time to get more treats - lol...that was funny to read - he sounds like a little character ! |

| Jack is also about 90% potty trained at home, but I have noticed that every once in awhile he will have an "accident" by one of our cedar posts in the den. I had a male Yorkie mix, Buddy, who died last November, and when we were building the cabin he used the post as a urinal. He thought it was a tree I guess, now I think Jack is trying to let Buddy know that he is the dog of the house now.
