| Cutting off that cottony coat My Widge had that cottony coat which attracted every snarl and matt and was like a magnet for every fuzzball or piece of threat etc.... I had her groomed at 5 months old, and had that puppy coat cut all off, and wa la,,,,,she now has a silky coat....just had to get rid of that initial puppy coat I guess..... I now use Mane n Tail, conditioner and shampoo once a week, and alternate with Cowboy Magic Conditioner, so she stays nice n shiny and matt free..... | My Tink had a bit of a rough looking coat as a baby, but it quickly grew out. She has a very nice coat as an adult. Eyes will reflect blue usually until 6 months or so. |

| she is pretty young to know coat type for sure. It certainly could be cotton or soft coated, could be heavy fine silk, could me modified. She is a little young to know for sure from eye shine. I prefer to wait until 5 - 6months of age to determine what it might be. I have been fooled before on a 4 or 5 month old thinking it may be soft coated and it wasn't. |

| coat FIDebra..If both aprents are silk..the chance are more in her favor to be silk also..you can have silk in different degrees of thickness...I do not see a high glossy, reflective shine coming off a cotton coat unless it is heavy in products. I have seen pups with very thin silk coats and a sibling dripping in silky coat at the same age...I had a male who was in full show coat at 10 months..hair touched the floor..his brothers hair was only to his knees...and much thinner..but both had a nice texture. |

| Here is an update on Hannah's coat problems. I think that it is just puppy coat that is making her look so fuzzy. about 1/2 -1 inch of new growth is silvery and silky looking, it is straight at the roots. Should I have her puppy coat cut off? I finally got a green flash in her eyes. What do you think of her coat now? |

Personally, I think she's beautiful. Her coat dont look that bad, nothing looks as good so close up, but I can say, maggie is almost 8 months and kizzy is almost 1 year and their hair has changed textures and colors so much, its almost unbelievable to me. The hair will get better with time i'm sure.

| I cant tell you anything about having her groomed. I've never took either of mine to a groomer. I know the cowboy magic detangler and feeding the missing link helps a lot, especially the missing link. Or it sure seemed to help mine. I posted some pics before and after missing link a while back. If you didnt see it and want to see them, i'll resend them.
