| Why would you hurry? Recently I have been reading more about ?holiday puppies?, ?pet shop puppies?, ?puppies that are too young to bring home? and ?did I get ripped off?? So I decided to share my thoughts on this post. I am not going to write anything new but same old. Here I am. Many of us go crazy on cute or/and cool things. When you see them, you want to buy them. When the holiday comes, you tend to jump on things much more often or choose to beg your significant others to get you whatever you WANT it for Christmas, Valentine?s Day, your birthday, your child(ren)?s birthday or your anniversary. Though I feel dogs should not be the ones that you jump to buy because you want them right now. There is one exception on buying a dog on a holiday or any special occasion and that is only if you have gotten to know the breeder, researched the breed and be ready for a new dog. Then I am fine with people celebrating the special day with your new dogs. People, who have been on YT for past 1.5 yr, know about my journey to get my Haruka. I am actually proud of my journey. It was tough waiting for the right one, but every minute was worth it. I just would like to share new YT folks and hope that my experience can be helpful for you when you start looking for your dream dog. Process that I took! 1. I was born as a pet lover! (year 1976) 2. I had dogs growing up in Japan (Year 1988-1996) 3. I came to US. I was really lonely without family, and couldn't visit my family while in college. I kept hugging my dog stuffed animal. (1996-2001) 4. I started working in 2001. (2001) 5. I met my colleague's dogs, Guinness, the yorkshire terrier and Kahlua, the shih tzu. (June 2005) 6. I lived in an apartment with no-pet-policy. So I decided to dog sit my friends' dogs. Sometimes I watched them at my apartment and I kinda let my landlord know. I learned how to wash dogs, walk them and love them. (June 2005) 7. I started researching about yorkie and joined YT. (September 2005) 8. I traveled to California with Guinness. I paid for pet fee of Guinness as my expense. -it was definitely a great experience to make sure that I could travel to my future dog. (sometime 2005) 9. I started looking for contacts of YT breeders and research them online. (Sometimes 2005) 10. Kahlua got really sick, started throwing up blood etc under other friend's care. Since my friend got scared, I brought Kahlua to Emergency Animal Hospital. I saved her life (sometime 2005) It continues as I keep writing.

| 11. I started contacting breeders and selecting the potentials. Some of them were from YT (end of 2005). 12. Two strong breeders: Stacy/Sylvan from Sylvan Yorkies, PA and Kimberly/Feminvstr from Yorkie Passion, OR. I decide to read most of their posts and thought about distance. They ARE great breeders. I decide to go with Sylvan Yorkies. (well and I had to see if Stacy would be willing to sell me a yorkie.) (end of 2005) 13. I started negotiating with a landlord about no-pet policy but things didn't work out. I decided to keep bugging and to have a back plan, moving. (December 2005) 14. Stacy tells me that she has a waiting list and the puppies she had were called for. So I told her that I would wait until my apartment situation gets settled. (December 2005) 15. I decided to visit Stacy and her gangs anyway. My bf and I drove to PA about 8 hrs away to visit Sylvan Yorkies. It was the heaven. We both enjoyed the visit and felt that I made a great and a right choice of a breeder. There was one cute boy at Stacy's. She offered to sell the pup to me since a candidate changed his mind. He was very cute but very shy from me. I had hard time not taking the offer as I wanted a yorkie then so badly. I wanted to make sure that the apartment was ready for a pup so I decided to let go and came home without a pup. (January 2006) 16. I kept watching Guinness and Haruka very often. 17. I kept talking with Stacy!!! 18. I decided to buy a yorkie from Stacy's next litter. (January 2006) 19. I wait and wait..... (February 2006) 20. I have waited so long that I memorized all the Sylvan Yorkie gang's names! (February 2006)

| My guess is you are a very methodic and organized person. I'm more the spontaneous type. Just the difference in people. |

| 21. I wanted a boy from Puck- Cobweb. (February 2006) 22. I named my future pup, "Haru" -spring in Japanese (February 2006) 23. Oliver(I think) -Ele puppies were born on March 18th, 2006. I get emails from Stacy and I get super excited for her. 2 boys @5 am, one girl at 8:23 a.m. and an another girl at 10:21 a.m. (March 18, 2006) 24. Puck -Cobweb pups were born at 4:52-4:54 a.m (March 20, 2006). I received emails from Stacy. Both of them were female. I was very happy about newborn but realized that there was no boy. (March 20, 2006) 25. Stacy thought I should take Ele's boy, but I decided to stick with Cob's litter and take a girl. I decided her name to be "Haruka" -fragrance of spring flowers. (end of March 2006) 26. I was not sure about getting which girl, but I was with full of excitement. (April 2006) 27. I started asking one last time to a landlord about the pet policy. She says no (April 2006) 28. I decided to look for an apartment. (April 2006) 29. The landlord tells me that I couldn't leave because of the lease. I get really really upset but I negotiate that I leave on end of June. (April 2006) 30. My roommates and I started looking for an apartment. (April 2006) still conitnues.... I know I know it is not my own blog...

| 31. We decided to give two month notice to my landlord. On the same day, the landlord decided to allow me to have ONE YORKSHIRE TERRIER ONLY with a pet fee. (end of April) 32. I drove to PA with my roommate to visit Haruka, Stacy and her gangs. It was scary that I just got the driver license 1.5 month prior to the date. I knew which girl I was going to get. I was just so full of joy!!! (May 13-14, 2006) 33. I had to wait for 4 more weeks.... I started doing shopping and determined on pet insurance. I bought everything I needed for this girl. I called Stacy many times to ask her for some feedback for the preparation!!!(May-June 2006) 34. I heard that Haruka was not growing much. I get worried but trusted Stacy. Stacy brought her to vet for some testing to be sure. Nothing wrong with Haruka. I guess she was just small to start with. (May-June 2006) 35. June 10, 2006 Stacy was coming to New England, so she was going to travel with Haruka but plan got changed. So I decided to fly to PA to pick Haruka up on June 12th, 2006. (June 2006) 36. It was a very exciting day on June 12th. I flew to PA!! That was one of my best day!!! (June 12th, 2006) 37. Joy Joy Joy but I struggled with pet insurance. (June 2006) 38. I take one week off to train Haruka and decide bring to Haruka to work everyday. (June 2006) 39. I finally got decently happy with VPI. (July 2006) 40. 41. 42. ................etc January 1st 2007, I cannot be more happier to have this girl. SHe is definitely right one for me. I have my own reason why I haven't been married and/or not having a child yet. But Haruka is definitely my dearest daughter!! I am so happy to have her in my life... still continues....

| I bring Haruka everywhere. You cannot imagine how many people have said "oh my god!" "ahhhhh tiny" and all kinds of things. One thing I feel strange about is.... people coming to ask me for her price. They ask me her price... 1. I don't know why but they think I may sell her to them. 2. they want to buy a yorkie for their children, girlfriends or whoever ... So I don't answer the question and usually tell them how much work it is... A couple weeks ago, I went to my bf's work. One of his colleagues wanted to see Haruka. I don't mind showing her as I have seen that Haruka brought so much joy and smile to so many different people. Then this lady started bugging her husband to buy a yorkie for her birthday... It is a big responsibility that many people might not realize. I hesitate telling people about her price or her size because I don't want them to buy a yorkie and get disappointed if the one they buy might not be exactly like Haruka. Now Haruka eats dry food. It took me long time to get her eat dry food ... even dog food in the beginning. People don't know that. A good breeder, Stacy also spent time to get to know me before she sold Haruka to me. She had to make sure that I could handle this small girl. So before you start looking for a yorkie or start complaining about a yorkie you got, I would like you to really take time to think through different things. It is like a woman being pregnant for 9 months. Maybe people should really spend as much time to research and be ready for a new puppy!! That is my 2 yen from Haruka and Michiko I hope I don't have any more left over thought!! Happy New Year!!!

| One more thing... I said what I said.... because I wanted to say. It doesn't mean that I am suggesting people to follow what I did. I agree that people get dogs in hurry don't mean that they don't take care of the dogs well..... But I can tell you that by taking time you could lean a lot and be prepared to be a good parent you could be for your dogs... SO much to learn in this world.

| This is a GREAT post! There are so many people who just dont understand what it means to take on such a precious baby and what they SHOULD and NEED to go through BEFORE getting a puppy. I, too, did what you did with Hope and studied, FOREVER before getting her. If more people would do their homework, there would be alot less babies out there looking for new homes! d
