I have a pet store purchased Chihuahua, we have had her almost 6 years. I bought her before i knew anything about pet stores or puppy mills. She was very sick when we got her, she had parvo, the vet didn't expect her to live, BUT SHE DID. We had a rough beginning with her, but she is now the perfect pet. She is also the perfect chihuahua in every way, size and look. So although I would not ever recommend a pet store, your pet may be perfectly healthy, you will know if she starts to show signs of being ill. Good luck.

The results of my test are:102 adult dogs in 2004 my stomach dropped a notch or two. Feeling very sick here! Oh poor baby's

My report said 30 adult dogs and 16 puppies in 2004. ???

I don't think there's any special tests to determine any genetic problems - but it's too bad pet stores aren't forced to tell up front where these puppies came from - People are very under informed about mills.

This country needs to take a much stronger stand against them and get the poor mill dogs help and stricter regulations.

ps...I saw yesterday people thought kami999 was getting lectured - I personally wouldn't lecture anyone who purchased a pet store puppy - I totally understand how anyone can walk in and fall in love - but this site is the BEST place to share the dark side of pet stores and it can't be said enough....it's kind of like what's happening with the word TEACUP on this site - people are using it and those who know there is no such thing don't even bother speaking up anymore - they get jumped on if they say anything - I'm kind of dissapointed because this site should be about sharing informaion. Helping spread the word about Puppy Mills is imortant - and helping those who don't realize there is no teacup yorkie should be told that also...

What do the tests you just did mean ?? I'm confused - is it going to make me want to cry too ???

I agree with red98vette, this country needs to take a much stronger stand against these stores and people. Take care of your healthy puppy and enjoy her.

Buddy is a pet store puppy and has only had good health. He will be 3 this month. I did get a vet's visit with the purchase and I immediately took him.
The vet remembered seeing him when the store first got him. He actually had papers on him. Buddy came from Hungary and is registered EKCH. I have learned alot on this site regarding pet store puppy's and am not sorry I purchased one. Have him checked out by a vet ASAP and enjoy him.
