Yorkie Nightmares Boomer has woken up (more like jolted awake) whimpering, howling, and almost screaming crying twice in three days from naps when I've been home. Do dogs have "nightmares" or some type of night terrors? Has anyone else experienced this bizarre behavior. He definitely seems shaken up for about 5 minutes after waking up also.

Oh yes, they dream a lot. Well, Yoda does. He makes weird little hiccups, whimpers, has odd breathing patterns at times. It's cute to watch, usually he isn't startled or freaked out by it though. We always think he's dreaming that he's out catching prey and being the big, bad predator that he is. :P Perhaps just gently stroke them and rub them after they wake up from their "nightmare"? Try to soothe them like their Yorkie Mommy would do.

here too Buckeye does the same thing. but he isn't scared afterwards. I usually gently wake him when he is dreaming. He just looks at me like... "what did you do that for ?" I noticed Ahia has experienced a few dreams also but not many. I just love these babies. LOL

OK good, glad its not just me!! I give him lots of hugs and kisses after, and he gives me the dry nose kisses they give when they first wake up!! I love it so much, sometimes I wake him up on purpose just to get those awesome kisses! I don't know what I'd do without these babies at this point - sheesh - I'm starting to forget life BEFORE yorkies!!

Oh the poor little baby. Wow, I have not expereinced a nightmare from Schatzie yet but just normal dreams with her legs in a motion of running. Cracks me up!! But I will wait to see if she ever does nightmare and give her gobs of love when I wake her. I guess our babies have stress too!! I agree, I cannot imagine all these years without knowing the love for a Yorkies, I truly feel I have been left out of something wonderful. Im hoping to live long enough for a couple more, atleast one if I am lucky!! I wonder if our Yorkies realize how much they feel our hearts and give to us?? They are so awesome to love!

schatzie: I think Yorkies know how much we love them, they're smart enough! It sounds weird, but I feel loved when I hug and kiss Yoda. And they're so HAPPY when we get home. They gotta at least like us somewhat. :P

| This is obviously an old thread but I just had to post. One of Angel's puppies seemed to me having a nithgtmare the other day. He was whimpering VERY loud. It was almost like he was crying. I tried shaking him softly but he didnt wake up. I had to pick him up in order to get his attention. I wonder what he was dreaming of that made him so scared. If only we could figure these things out....
