| Is rice safe? I know our Yorkies can be give some boiled rice and chicken if their stomachs are upset, or they are not feeling quite right. I feed my girl about 1/3 tablespoon of boiled brown or white rice everyday. I cannot find anything about this on the internet, so I am wondering, is it safe to feed rice to them on a daily basis? Thank you. Kate

My yorkie has not been feeling well lately and she has been on white rice and boiled white chicken per the vets instructions. I gave her brown rice tonight because we are out of white. She should be fine as long as she is getting other sources of nutrition. Michele & Bailey

I hope nothing serious is wrong with Bailey. It is always nerve wracking when they are not up to par. Please keep us posted. Kate

| White rice is okay to give on a temporary basis. It's a filler that when the body breaks it down, converts into sugar, so giving rice long term isn't the most healthiest thing to do and isn't neccessary. If you can give her Brown rice instead, I would. Just as bland on the tummy, but has more nutrients to offer as well. |

I am trying to find her a dry food that is easier on her tummy. Brown rice has more nutrients, but if your dog is sick white rice is easier for them to digest. Thanks, Michele & Bailey
