| Tinge of blood in urine after spaying Our 7-1/2 month old Yorkie was spayed two days ago (Thursday) and tonite (Saturday) I noticed a tinge of blood in her urine. Is this normal? She's on one-tablet/day pain killer for 4 days (one more to go for tomorrow). She seems to be faring well considerably, with a healthy appetite, but walking with a hobble and not sitting upright as normal. She walks with a slight hunch, but I suspect that's all due to the surgery. Can you please let me know if these are normal and if it persists, for how many days? Or do you advise that we rush her to the vet on an emergency basis or can this wait until we return to her Vet on Monday? As I know from a friend who's undergone hysterectomy, a tad of blood in her urine is expected... does this apply to our lil' girl? ;o( Thanks a lot for relieving us of worry. Chris and Gina |

| It could be from Kidneys, Bladder brusing from the surgery but as always it's best to check with your Vet. |

| If you search for 'after spaying bleeding' on Google, you'll find others who had dogs with the same symptoms. This site: http://www.animalhealthchannel.com/spay/procedure.shtml says... Possible complications include bleeding after the surgery and incomplete removal of the ovaries. The pet's activities should be limited for the first week or so following surgery. Dogs should be walked on a leash and not allowed to run or roam. Pets should be protected from stressful environments (e.g., excitement, extreme temperatures). After the first week, animals can resume normal activities. You should call your vet just in case. Good luck and hope Coffee feels better!
