All these babies are so cute!! Lily is asleep in my lap. Congratulations to everyone! Yorkies are the sweetest :2hearts2: |
I think I'm as excited for everyone else as I am for myself. All of your babies are just beautiful and I can't wait to see what they will all look like when they grow up! I made up a list of sorts for the upcoming month and January so we could keep track of the babies who have made it home, and the babies who are on their way. If the dates were stated I placed them beside their names and as they come home we can update this list :) Once we get to January we can make a new lists for the new babies that wil be coming  New babies that have arrived home: Mercedes (better known as Sadie) Lily, Momiji, Anna's naughty little nicky New babies that are on their way: December- Cooper, Tetly (21st), London, January - Jadajewel (second week of Jan.) * Hokule'a * |
Lunasmomma posted this AWESOME thread in the yorkie health and diet forum and since we are all getting or have tiny babies here I thought it would be good to post here as well. I know some small babies can have hypcoglycemia episodes when they are smaller from time to time and thought that we ALL should read and know this information! ************************************************** ******* Thought I'd share this, as I credit the advice I got for saving Luna's life. As most of you probably read, Luna got very very sick the second night we had her. She'd stopped eating and was vomiting. We had to rush her to the emergency vet clinic for sub q fluids and heat support. She was discharged the following morning and saw the vet the petstore referred us to. The vet gave her sub q fluids again and told me to give her 1 tsp. of Nutrical every hour on the hour. So we were doing that, hubby and I taking turns forcing it into her mouth She wasn't coming around and I was so scared! She just kept vomiting and then going back to sleep. So back to the vet again the next morning (on a Sunday, that impressed me a little) for more sub q fluids and antibiotics for a nasty respiratory infection that she had going. Meanwhile, I'm in contact with a great breeder a few hours from me. I write her what's going on and she offers to help. God bless her, because I think her advice helped save Luna's life. The nutrical wasn't doing a thing for her, except turn her into a sticky mess, and she'd vomit it up anyway. She was lethargic and her ears were cold, gums very light pink and gray. She had me mix up the following formula, to feed via syringe. After forcing the first 2 cc's into her,she kept it down and 20 minutes later she was up and bouncing around, lol! After that, no more syringe, but she wanted it off my finger. Then she graduated to eating from a little bowl. Only problem is, she's now a little picky about food, but she's alive, and healthy. This produced nice firm stool from her by the way. I still give her the baby mixture right before bedtime (about midnight for us) and she gets through the night on a belly full of that 1/2 cup half and half 1/2 cup baby rice cereal 1 jar meat baby food, anything but turkey 1 tsp. karo or pancake syrup Mix together and add a little water if it's too thick for the syringe. Give approximately 2-4 cc's every hour (depending on size), then when the pup is doing better, you can increase the amount and decrease the frequency. After a day or two of this, as long as they are eating this on their own, gradually add softened kibble or canned food and slowly decrease the baby mixture until they are eating the food. Should take a week or so to do the change, to avoid upsetting their tummy. She told me to keep checking her gums, that they should look like a humans, dark pink to red, and her ears should feel warm, not cold at all, . If I saw gray in her gums, I was to feed immediately and if no improvement in 1/2 hour, to get her to the vet again. And I was told also to keep her warm, so we took turns holding her against our bodies. I swear, without this help, Luna wouldn't have made it. Just thought that I'd share, in case anyone else goes through this. |
