| ![]() I'm a new Yorkie Mommy and potty training my little Gidget. I read somewhere about using aluminum foil for potty training. Can anybody elaborate on that subject? She is only 5 months old and doing great with her Pee Pads for going "tee tee". She just will not go "poo" anywhere inside but on the floor that is uncovered by the pee pad. We also haven't learned our "potty code" yet for when she needs out. The only time there is a "poo" accident (which are very few and far between) is when I leave for a couple of hours or miss her silent signal. |

| ![]() Hi, I just wanted to welcome you to YorkieTalk. I have a Gidget too. She will be 15 months old the 21st of this month. I also have a Emilee, Joey and Izzie. I have never heard of using aluminum foil. Maybe others have. All mine are pee pad trained except for Joey and he wears a belly band. Hope you enjoy it here.

| ![]() If it works, I sure need to know and I would be glad to use it with Kizzy. I'm trying to get her trained for outside tho.

| ![]() It is my understanding that they don't like the feel of it or something, so you should place it on and around the places they "like" to go and the areas you don't want them to go so that they will avoid those areas (I'll have foil everywhere!!!) ![]() |

| ![]() My pup would tear aluminum foil into a million pieces. And, if they do swallow it (not just a tiny piece, but more than that), it can't be good for them. And - I would think that aluminum foil would actually be very fragile -- given their sharp little nails......... Plus - it isn't absorbent - pee would just run off of it. So - I guess it doesn't sound like a very good idea to me. Carol Jean |

| ![]() I've only heard of using it with cats where you don't want them to go like flowerbeds and such or on your kitchen countertops. |

| ![]() well, after reading this, I took two strips of aluminum and twisted them and put them in the top of my artificial plants. I have three large ones and they have this brown stuff on top, not sure what ya call it but its to make it look like potting soil on top of the dirt at the bottom of the plant. Kizzys found this and had been raising up on the pot and taking a few bits of it out to chew on and kinda strewn it on the floor. So i can tell when she has been in the plants. But after i twisted the foil up and just layed it in kind of a circle on top of the stuff. she raised up on one and didnt like it so, I havent known of her raising up on any of them anymore. I did that early this morning. and she hasnt yet at least. I'm gonna leave it for a while and see if she keeps leaving my plants alone. I'll let ya know how it goes later.

| ![]() so far Kizzy hasnt been in my plants. She raises up on the pot, sees the foil and gets right down and walks away. So maybe they are scared of aluminum foil.
