Omg! Alright so I called Tony's breeder today to ask a teething question and tell her about this wierd coloring that is coming in on my baby and it turns out that he could be parti. :D She has partis at her place and thinks that somehow Tony could be parti, but she wants to wait until his coat grows out more (he has random colorings, like white, brown and black, he also has really light feet, that are growing out white)... She said that if he did change, she would give me full breeding rights! :D I have mixed feelings about this. She wants to turn my little lover into a sex machine! What do y'all think? |
I say let him have some fun for a few years, then get him fixed. Could be some good money for you! Congrats! |
Sounds like the breeder doesn't actually know who the daddy of the dog is (she should have know he was breed to be a parti to start with). I would make sure to get him DNA tested before I breed him and making sure he is out of the dogs he is said to be out of. otherwise you may end up with a mess when you breed him if AKC would happen to step in and say that this dog isn't out of the said parents. |
How would the breeder be able register him if she didn't know who the father is?? |

If I paid for a pure bred standard Yorkie and wound up with a Parti, I would not be a happy camper. Not that the Parti is not a great dog, just that if you pay for one thing, you expect to get it. Her not knowing for sure looks pretty sloppy. If she bred a parti with a standard color, then she should have told you up front. |
well i heard you can get a Parti from two standard yorkies it's something in the genes and maybe the breeder doesn't know that so she thinks that her parti got to tha dam? But i believe it is possibly for to normal yorkies to produce a parti so if there is question yes have the dna done before breeding. |
this may be a stupid question but what is a parti yorkie? |

Hummmmmm I am not so sure that I would be happy about that......especially if I paid for a full blooded yorkie.... Was the "full breeding rights" supposed to be a benefit??? Esp if one parent is parti and the other is a regular yorkie......??????? Not sure about this one...... |
Parti's are 100% yorkie, they are just a rare genetic variation. My concern here would be if a breeder does not know which dogs paired presenting the possibility of a party, well that is pretty irresponsible, exacerbated only by the fact she is willing to pass that irresponsibility on and continue lines no one is really quite sure of, and why did she not provide papers either limited or full when the dog was purchased? Something smells funny here... Tony does sound beautiful and unique though and you should be proud! |
Thanks for the clarification Quote:
Thank you, I am learning too......but, why wouldnt the seller just give a partial refund.........since it was not what she was promised..... Just a thought |
My guess is because having a parti she could have sold it for a lot more than just a yorkie, a refund would not occur to her. |

She probably listed the parents correctly. Since she has some partis - your pups parents could have had some recessive genes that came forward in your little pup. Personally - I got my little Yorkie for pet - and if he had turned out to be tri-colored - I would have been thrilled. This little guys are unusually beautiful and extremely cute. This would certainly would not be a disappointment to me. Regardless of what color my pup turned out to be - I would still have gotten him neutered because I have never had any desire to breed any of my dogs. However, if you do decide to breed him - lucky him! I see nothing wrong with this at all. I'll bet you have one darling little Yorkie. I wouldn't worry about his registration at all. Breed or don't breed - and enjoy this special, and I'm-sure-beautiful, little Yorkie that you have. I think you lucked out! Carol Jean |
1 Attachment(s) I would like to know if you can get a dog DNA tested with out the parents.Well to tell the truth I bought a Parti yorkie 2 days ago so far everybody that has seen his picture does not think that he is a yorkie today I contacted the breeder and talked to her and she told me that he was a Parti both of his parents are black and tan parti's she even sent me pictures of his father who is a black and tan parti, but my pup has no tan he is white with a black saddle, now I like the dog anyway but I want a peice of mind I mean after all I did pay for a parti,I was also told by that breeder that parti's run bigger, can anyone help me out with this please. |

You are seeing wrong I have the dog on a leash because I took this pic this morning when I took him outside to use the bath room, all 7 of my dogs are inside dogs the green little leash you see tied to the poll is for when I wash them in the summer, since I have had my dogs which we have 3 dobermans and 4 yorkies have never slept outside, and anyway thats not the question I asked. Some of yawl just be going off on some old stupid crap.Who would keep a little yorkie like that in 10* weather |
parti DNA tells you the parents, not the breed..not Yorkie, poodle, Doxie...according to AKC they are not able to do that as yet... |

the water dish outside was probably why they asked. |

Grouchy aren't we? I am so sorry you feel that way about 'some of us'. Her question was valid and in no way, shape or form rude. To answer your question, there are people 'who would kepe a little yorkie like that in a 10 degree weahter'. Here at YT, some of us have become immune to similar things and worst. Also, maybe you should have stated what you did when you posted the pictures........to avoid 'stupid questions'. ;) |

Is there a full moon tonight |
I cant beleive someone made the comment you can make some good money! :thumbdown He shouldnt be bred. From what it appears in the picture he is WAY to light in color and hes very long. Dont get me wrong hes VERY cute but he isnt within the standard |
parti This male is NOT breed quality, no matter what his DNA states, Parti or standard...I hope he was purchased for a pet to be neutered ata reasonable price. |

Sorry - but you DID ask that question. and since you just stated here that you ONLY bought him as a pet -  it sure didn't sound like it in this post below. Sounds more like you just bought a bunch of yorkies without any idea what you're buying. This isn't any insult to your dog - but read your own post below and you can see why I said that. Quote:
