| Same thing happened to us - we have baby gates in the house so Honey can only be in our bedroom, bathroom and family room. She has gotten out only twice - the first time my husband had to stand in the road and STOP a furniture delivery truck coming down the road and the second time I was by myself and I chased her about 15 houses down before I literally tackled her! I thought I had broken her leg! We live in Florida and have lots of alligators and snakes around us - all I could think of was her running into a swampy area and getting eaten!! Both those instances left me sleepless with nightmares for a week afterwards. We NEVER let her out without her leash and are very strict about keeping the gates up and the doors shut. She thought it was all a big game and I about had a heart attack! No amount of screaming, bribing, yelling or treat-promising will make her stop when she gets like that. |
