I find it ironic that they charge sooo much for their puppies and imo, they are not very attractive examples of the breed.

I just went through the celebrity part of the site. Thought the Jeff Gordon and "amanda" was kinda funny since his ex wifes name was Brooke and His current girlfriend and only one since his wife and him split isn't named amanda.

My uncle is a close person friend of Jeff Gordons.

So everyone knows.... Wizard of Claws is bad bad news - they are a mill. A well known mill actually, and have had many problems in the past with their business practices...This is one site I would stay clear of if looking for a puppy - anyone can do a search on the net and find out all sorts of bad information on them..She's been shut down and re-opened... and sued countless times.

Please dont stone me to death but attractive she's not. Just my opinion. It doesnt even look like a Yorkie. The nose looks like another animal but I just wont say! When I first saw it I thought it was another animal ...not a dog.

I just looked up possums on the web and the first picture actually does look like it was mixed!!!!! It has the same nose and mouth as an opossum! Is this possible? How creepy.

Tempers rise at pet store protest in Pembroke Pines

About 40 protesters gathered in front of a pet store Saturday to show their dissatisfaction with the business, prompting store workers to stage their own counter-demonstration nearby. Six people filed a lawsuit Thursday against Wizard of Claws, 9113 Taft St., saying they purchased dogs that later became sick or died. They said the store misrepresents the quality of its puppies, and they are asking for reimbursement for the price of their dogs and veterinary bills

Our beautiful puppy is at the Bellows vet hospital because it has "respiratory problems". Coincidently (?), all four other people in the vet waiting room all had dogs from the "Wizard of Claws" pet store. Hmmm. They all had respiratory problems. Hmmm. One owner had a dog with black vomit. Another had a dog with a collapsed lung. Our dog puked up green. No wonder they give you all those papers about "kennel cough". Hmmmm.

A little questioning revealed that the Wizard of Claws Pet Store is using anti-bacterial medicines on their dogs in the forbidden "back-room". When the customer takes the dog home, they come down with disease because they are off the antibiotics. . Notice the fine print in their "contract"---14 days---is all the customer has....Guess What: It takes just about two weeks for the poor animal to get really sick!

We finally found the other "rip-off report" about these people. There should be a law against puppy mills and this cruelty to animals.

I am one of the VERY VERY few who ACCIDENTALLY saw the Wizard of Claws back room. I was in there...only because I heard dogs, so I went in. I was IMMEDIATELY pushed right through to the front of the store, as though they most definitley had something to hide back there (yes, I was physically pushed through). Let me tell you...from their website, it seems like this place would be so nice...well, it is in a crappy strip mall where you'd expect to find check cashing places or a liquor store. Disgusting.

I will never ever forget the back room. There were NO LIGHTS back there except for one small lightbulb which wasn't even near the puppies. It STUNK from urine and feces. And worst of all, there was no air conditioning back there...just a fan.

There were at least 40 wire crates piled one on top of the other...there were NO LININGS on the crates...so when one dog urinated or defacated, it just went right onto the puppies below them. Not to mention how painful it is to have new puppies laying ON TOP OF THE METAL GRATINGS of the crates. Imaging standing or laying on that?

But more than that....they dogs were not just crying...dogs were SCREAMING. I am not exaggerating, as I know dogs, and know how it sounds when they cry. Plus, they seemed to be especially screaming when I walked by their cages.

I was so disturbed by what I saw, heard, smelled, that I was in a daze for the rest of the day. It was truly an eye opener. And of course, I did not leave with a puppy. I can't see giving one half of a penny to this repulsive business.

Anyone can put together a nice looking website. And it is terrible that those who are not able to see first hand what a pig sty this place is actually support Wizard of Claws financially by making purchases.

Did I mention that the owner has a HUMMER and his wife has a Lamborgini? These are the perks you get for ABUSING, NEGLECTING, and KILLING DOGS. Nice, huh?

I also know someone who used to work for Wizard of Claws. She told me that dead puppies were tossed into a garbage can on a daily basis, and that no one who worked there was licensed to care for animals. This was rather apparent to me as well, since the workers in that horrid back room with the puppies did not speak English, and were clearly not vet techs.

For anyone who has purchased a puppy from any of these Florida stores... the sources from which these stores purchase do not always vaccinate these puppies.

Distemper and Parvo are running rampant in these transport trucks. When you take your pup to the Vet, please go on the assumption he/she has not received ANY vaccines and ask your vet to give all three sets of puppy shots.

If you suspect Distemper, immediately contact your doctor. He has an experimental protocol but it's worth a try. If the Distemper has spread to the brain it's too late so don't wait!

These pet stores are not in this business because they love puppies. To them they are just a commodity. They don't care that we fall deeply in love with these puppies and how painful it is to watch them suffer and die. I know because I held my dying puppy in my arms for 19 hours straight while she had grand mal seizures from Distemper which led to cardiac arrest and death.

If you bought from one of these stores, your puppy either came from an auction site www.PBTMarketplace.com or a broker in Oklahoma- www.lakecountrypets.com. Please do not dare respond to this report if you are a fanatic that is going to lecture me about buying from a petstore. I don't want to hear it!

PUPPY STORE SUED FOR MISLEADING CUSTOMERS, SELLING SICK PUPPIES

(Pembroke Pines, FL) Two South Florida attorneys have filed a lawsuit on behalf of customers that bought puppies from Wizard of Claws Inc., alleging that the Pembroke Pines pet store defrauds customers by intentionally misrepresenting the origin of the puppies sold, and by selling puppies that suffer from a wide array of health problems, including contagious diseases and genetic disorders.

Although Wizard of Claws has told customers that their puppies were imported from "reputable" breeders in South America, according to the complaint filed yesterday Broward County Circuit Court, in reality the puppies were obtained from large scale commercial breeding facilities in Missouri, commonly known as a "puppy mills", where animal welfare concerns are wholly secondary to profits.

Plaintiff Shannah Diaz of Miami purchased a Maltese puppy, ãPrince,ä from Wizard of Claws on September 6, 2002 for $950.00. Prince suffered from a congenital bleeding disorder, and died from internal hemorrhaging when he was less than a year old. After Prince died, Diaz began to suspect that Prince had come from a puppy mill, and asked a Wizard of Claws. "They assured me that my puppy had come from a reputable private breeder " Diaz .said, "but I later discovered that my puppy had been shipped to Florida from a commercial breeder in Missouri. " Wizard of Claws refused to reimburse any of Diaz's vet bills.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, the documented problems of puppy mills include overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of socialization with humans, overcrowded cages, and the killing of unwanted animals. To the unsuspecting consumer, this often means buying a puppy facing an array of immediate veterinary problems or harboring genetically borne diseases that may not be detected until much later.

Wizard of Claws, which claims to specialize in "tiny, tea-cup size puppies" sells puppies from its Pembroke Pines store and over the Internet. Plaintiff Mary Ibarra of San Antonio, Texas ordered an English Bulldog from Wizard of Claws, and knew that something was very wrong with her new puppy moments after "Gracie" arrived from at the San Antonio International Airport. Gracie, who had received a clean bill of health from Wizard of Claws veterinarian of choice Dr. Jan Bellows, walked on her wrists and she kept falling down on her back legs. Gracie was soon diagnosed as suffering from severe hip dysplasia with early onset arthritis. Gracieâs hip sockets are so bad that they do not have a cup to hold the ball of the joint, and she needs at least two surgeries. If the surgeries are not successful Gracie will have to be euthanized. Wizard of Claws refuses to assist with the costs of the surgeries, or to even reimburse the $1200.00 Ibarra paid for the pup.


The lawsuit, which alleges fraud, breach of warranty and multiple counts of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, asks that the plaintiffs be reimbursed for the purchase price of their puppies as well as the veterinary expenses incurred as a result of the purchase an unhealthy pup.


NOTE: Some of the victims of Wizard of Claws and other animal lovers will be demonstrating outside the store at 9101Taft Street, Pembroke Pines tommorow, Saturday, December 13th starting at 11:00 am. Attorneys Mi Kim and Marcy LaHart will be present to answer any questions concerning the case.
