| ![]() My TIka ran out through the front door for the first time on Monday. This was the day our neighbor was killed and there were many cops, TV crews, just everybody driving up and down our street to see what was going on. I guess she got excited, so she bolted out the door and I ran after her (without shoes or coat) down the street. I thought she would get run over, but luckily our other neighbor grabbed her. Now I'm so paranoid that I've placed a leash at the front door. I've instructed my family to put the leash on her (if she's near the area) before opening the door. That sure was a scarey moment - our neighborhood is usually very quiet, but not that day.

| ![]() Whenever someone opens the door in our house we make sure its only open enough to fit through. Like we don't leave the door wide open when were stepping outside. oh and always stop them with our feet and close the door right away behind you. If you don't feel safe you could close them in a seperate room when you answer the door.. |

| ![]() Sounds like everyone has the same idea..... I am training mine to sit and wait. They have to sit and wait until they are given permission go out. We did this with the Boxer (EASY) -- the yorkies are more of a challenge, but they are getting the idea ![]() |

Gucci is a wild woman lol she knows that she is not to go outside without her lease. But her don't trust her when the doorbell rings she gets to excited. Therefore I keep a gate by the hallway leading out to the door. | |

| ![]() I push mine back with my foot and tell them to stay. But since the patio is fenced, it's not a tragedy if they get out, just an inconvenience. But when we are leaving and want them to stay back, I just tell thm to stay. You just have to teach them and reward them when they sit nicely. |
