Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Wearing Clothes vs Long Hair Now that cold weather is setting in I decided to dress Jilly in her cute little heart pink sweater. She was in it a good portion of the day as we were out shopping and doing errands. Well when I took it off that evening, much to my dismay she was quite matted up. Her hair is quite long. I used to have their harnesses on all the time, but found that that created a snarly mess as well so now I only put them on when we are leaving the house. Anyone have any suggestions. I love her hair long and she has quite the wardrobe. But I hate the mats. Jacks hair is shorter so he is okay. Thought I would include a few pics I took today. Just got the Packer Korkie bow for Jilly so she has to model it for her daddy! And the Packers beat the Vickings!!! Hooray!!!

| I have the same problem with Jazzie so she only wears her harness vest on "Special" occasions. She has a small wardrobe collection but they are worn mostly for pictures or visiting friends and once everyone see's her in it, it comes off. Jazzie is collar-less and harness-less while in the house. Anyone have a solution?

| I would like to hear what everyone does about this too. Jewels matts up when put clothes on her. I put Cowboy Magic on the matts and brush them through but I wonder if there is anything you can do before you put the clothes on to prevent matts

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Great pictures....they are precious! We have the same problem here.....Magic mats up so much worse this winter than last!! Sailor has a shorter coat that does not matt when wearing tshirts or harnesses, but boy....Magic does terribly! The longer Magic's coat gets the more of a problem it is!! We have been brushing her with a leave in conditioner before putting a tshirt or harness on her, but that only helps just a little. Tonight we used Johnson & Johnson's No Tangle when we took her tshirt off and it was so much easier to brush out the tangles than yesterday when we used CC Ice on Ice!! Magic stays chilled even in the house once the weather cools off, so we feel like she needs something on....but forget sweaters - they are the worst for her! Anyone got a great solution????

| we live in a 110 year old victorian with no insulation. it's so drafty i don't have a choice about romeo wearing clothes in the house. the house is beautiful , but cold. he has to have a puppy cut because the little knots make me nuts. i can't get them out and i don't want to hurt him or make him suffer. so until a miracle knot product comes out ... it's a puppy cut for romeo.

| Jilly is adorable! Mine don't wear clothes so I can't help with the matting. Cowboy Magic works wonders. |

| Hmm same thing happens to Princess but I just don't let her wear clothes that long if I don't want to have to deal with the matting... |

| I am not a clothes person. I would never trade long hair for clothes. If you cut it it might take long than you maybe willing to wait for it grow out. |

| I just put clothes on Zena when we go outside in the cold, she never wears clothes or a harness inside. This works quite well for us to prevent mats |

| I have a velour shirt for Pepper that seems to be best for not tangling the hair while wearing. Still, it does get a little messy but no comparison to when he has his warm sweaters on. Maybe putting a little shirt made of silk or other slippery fabric underneath a sweater would help?
