| Hair Texture My yorkie had puppies and this is our 1st time. 2 of the boys have a grey hair color to them and their hair texture is very rough compared to the other. Now they are 10 weeks old and their hair is still rough and wirey, is that normal? Last edited by monisilk; 05-06-2005 at 08:10 AM. Reason: add pictures of pups |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | So you're a new puppy mom ? Congratulations !! I'm not a breeder and only have 2 yorkies but have been on forums and looking at them everyday for close to 3 years now - and I would have to say puppies usually have very soft shiney black hair when born...till their coat comes in - it's usually not wiry....Do you have any pictures ? |

| Growing up the Yorkie we had did have wirey hair that did not grow at all. she was bigger than the standard Yorkie weighing about 13 lbs. I always wondered if she had a little of something else in the mix. She did have papers but there was something that was just a little different about her hair. I always wished I could see her mother, father, brother and sisters to see what they looked like. |

| Do they have hair loss? They look thin on the top of their head and face. Their skin looks blue around the face too. I think there has been several discussions about blue born puppies. They lose their hair and have leathery skin with health problems. I think yorkierose has shared some information about this before. You might want to private mail her. |

| Yes their hair on the head they lost early on and it was grey now it is brown, and their ears are very leathery - your description is the best I have seen yet. I looked up yourkierose on the user list and can;t find her. I desperately want to know about these little guys and if I should be concerned about their health. I have been to the vet and he says their hair will grow back, we checked for mites, mange, except we did not do a biopsy yet. Do you know of any one else I can talk to? |

| Hey, check your spelling of yorkierose and try your search again. She seems to offer very good information about yorkies. I hope your puppies are okay. Reagan |

| I found this : Leather ears , slick ears ,black ears does affect some toy dogs namely Yorkie. It can be responsible for hair loss on the ears , face , hocks and the end of the tail and leave a slimy substance in those places . At the first sign of black around the edge of the ears , wipe the ear with dog-o-dontic pads dipped in alcohol . |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | They're cute but only 10 weeks old ? They sure have alot of hair for 10 weeks...they look big too but it could be the picture ...they're handsome little dudes ! To me - and this in a very NON expert opinion - they look like a yorkie mix....did you see the dad ? You said there were more but just these 2 look this way ? Can we see the other puppies ? (I just love looking at puppies !) I can't wait to hear what the experts - Pat..and others say about them - They look healthy to me ...very dignified interesting little faces ....and I'm sure will be great little pets !! |

| pups There are so many opinions about these colors. I had one and he is fine at 3 yrs I am told. Some have skin problems...I placed mine very cheap and told the owner..I had no clue what to expect??? Some ask thousands for them..but I have seen soem with terrible looking coats, harsh and bald patches..so I would not repeat the breeding..I would breed the parents again, but to others. I am passing thsi to Whispersmom...she has a photo of one she knows. |
