| Doggy Day Care? Do any of you send your babies to doggy day care? If so, how is it working out? How often do they go? How much does it cost. And most important, how do you select the right one for your Yorkie?

| I am Doggie Daycare CHEERLEADER!! I love it and couldn't live without it! I have been taking Simon since he was 6 months! The daycare in Alaska was called "Muttessori" hehe I take Simon and Hallie twice a week and it's $26 a day. I drop them off in the morning at 7 and pick them up around 5 (I take them on my long days at work). I went to a couple of different ones when I moved here to NY and chose PetSpa b/c they required the dogs to go through an interview process that included a 4 hour trial period, required all vet records and vaccination records, and they were so friendly to me and the monkeys. Here is a link to their website, they have a webcam set up so I can see what the monkeys are doing http://www.petspasofamerica.com/ Last edited by simonandhallie; 11-08-2006 at 05:59 PM. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Our girls sgo to Doggie Day Care everyday right now. I started a fulltime job during the day in August and am taking some of my last college classes in the evening....and since I live at home and mom & dad both work fulltime also....we made the decision to look for day care for them. We approached our groomer and she offered to let the girls stay with her at the shop during the day - so my mom who leaves the house last and comes home first - takes and picks them up each day. The girls have a bed up there and are out in the open area all day with our groomer....they basically run the place she says. It works out great for us and she only charges us $10 per day - plus the girls get bathed and trimmed up every Friday....so it ends up costing us $75 for the week....and it worth every penny as Magic has been less stressed and has had less tummy problems now that she has a routine. (Up until August the girls had never been left alone for more than 5 hours at a time..while I was in class.) There are other options around us....but we did not look any further since our girls know and like the groomer! (Not to mention she carries our harnesses and blankets in her store!)

| Doggy DayCare Fan here too! Katy goes to day care twice a week. A couple of my friends and I have started play date days there. Katy absolutely loves it. When ever we say "ready to go to Carols" She runs to her bow box and starts barking. When we get on the road and start the turn off to the daycare, Katy starts going nuts. She runs to the door, and barks for Carol to let her in. She then flys to back and greets each and every dog. They have 2 general social areas inside, one for big dogs and one for little (Katy takes turns, she loves to play with both). She also has 4 large sections on play runs outside. They charge $15 a day or you can buy a weekly package for $70 and use the days when you want. I can not say enough good things about them. http://topdog2006.com/default.aspx |

| I take Dezi to daycamp at Petsmart two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). She loves it. And the best part of it is that she comes home ready for bed after all that playing. They charge $24.00 a day. |

| I took Diezel a few times because I wanted to get him more socialized and every time when I picked him up I asked them how he did and it was the same answer.. "Oh he was wonderful.. played for the first 10 minutes then on someones lap for the next 6 hours" He never liked it.. was still all sad and bent out of shape that same night when we got home. I really wanted it to work, but I am not going to lie that I was a little releived. It was $65 a day.. Thats Manhattan for ya.. ha |

| We love Doggy Daycare.. Emma goes to Daycare on days where we work long or have engagements after work and can't be with her around 5 pm. This is the time she starts freaking out because everyone else in our condo starts coming home, and she knows if we're not home on time. Ours is just an in-home kind of thing, but there are several dogs that go there. Emma's main playmate is a Chi named Lola who's about 2 lbs., so Emma is the big dog for once! There is also a 9 year old very gentle lab, an Austrailian Terrier, and a Jack Russell that frequent daycare. It's run by a retired couple, and they have the whole place set up for dogs. There is a glassed-in porch with a doggie door to outside and a fenced in yard. They feed each dog separately, and give meds and groom upon directions. They do not give treats unless requested, no people food, and no rawhide or greenies. If we need to leave Emma overnight, they actually let her (and all the other dogs) SLEEP IN THEIR BED WITH THEM! This is better than kid daycare, and Emma loves it. She enjoys being with people all day, and playing with the other dogs. And, the best part: it's only $5 a day, $10 overnight! WOW~!~!~! |

Forgot to add that we chose it after a trial afternoon and everyone got along great. It was recommended by a coworker-friend who takes her dog there when on vacation. We really wanted an in-home experience for Emma, not boarding in a cage

| Layla goes to a babysitter about 3 times a month and i LOVE it. the lady she goes to, her daughter runs obedience, and her mother watches layla during the day. They have two Yellow Labs.. one is a puppy and a cat.. PLUS they make home-made treats... layla loves it.. the first time we left her there... i cried.. she cried.. it was horrible.. but now she doens't even look back to say good bye. I looked through the phone book under Dog Services and just called around to find someone who would watch her in their home. Here in London Ontario we dont' have a Doggy Day Care that does not involve the dog being in a pen most of the day and i was NOT leaving layla there... it is just not somewhere that she would be comfortbale.. good luck on your search! oh here it costs 15 bucks for a day |

I was thinking about bringing Howie to the PetSmart PetsHotel when he gets a little older. Do you put Dezi in the DayCamp where they play all day w/ one hour of nap time, or in the atrium rooms? (I'm assuming all the PetSmart are the same). I'm a little worried because I'm not sure if Howie will be able to play ALL day w/ only one hours rest. But, I do want him to be able to get out and play. The atrium rooms offer one hour of play. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

| WOW Doggy Day Care is cheap for you guys....over here in Australia it is about $50 per day (think thats around $37). There also arent many to choose from...its a pretty new thing. I have 2 in my area (central sydney) that I am going to pick from. At the moment I think I like the one that has a webcam so you can watch your puppy play. At the moment I am on summer vacation from uni so it wont be necessary until probably next february but am going to take her in for a couple of hours at a time as we get closer so she is familiar with it. |
