Wanna buy from a petstore? How persuasive! Quote:

      good post and great time of year to do this...i hate how true this is in so many cases it is ....but pet stores are only in the sale of puppies for PROFIT. They do NOT save any dogs from mills - they help KEEP Mills in business and are a huge part of the percentage of dogs that are shipped out every week or day - They want the cutest most needy looking puppies so people will feel bad and buy them on the spot. |
I don't know if or cry. boohoo hee hee boohoo |
OMG! I thought that was a real ad until i read down a few paragraphs! |
I saw it on Puppymillrescue.com This site is soo heartbreaking. I was reading the pest shop stories and it's really terrible. If anyone is interested in reading up on puppymills, and how petstores really work (some of these stories are from pet-store employees) then it's a really interesting site. |
 As someone that unfortunately bought from a pet store (I knew better, hubby woulnd't listen, grrr! ) I can attest to the "almost dead" part. We just about lost her:( NOW he says he'll listen:rolleyes: I can't understand how these people can sleep at night, knowing what they do hurts so many:( |
I did not like it.. it gave me the creeps nothing against you ...the truth hurts..and i know someone will buy from a pet store |
:( Chewy came froma a pet store, and he's healthy. I am not thrilled with thread. |

i know alot of people whos pet shop dogs are healthy, I don't know any one's who are sick... Not to encourage people to buy from them, but it just is not true that they all get sick when they come from a pet shop. the pet shop here bathes them, grooms them, puts dogs together in the same crate to play (Big crate) they are clean. and all seem healthy. I know not all are his way but I know not all pet shops are as bad as some of you would like to think... they puppy mills thing is probably true even though they tell me it isn't. But I still believe these little ones need a loving home. |
My Kallie originally came from a pet store because the first owners thought she was soooooooooo darling and cute..........then along came baby and out went the dog.:( .....But she is with us now and we have had no problems in the two years we have had her. :) But, I would not buy from a petstore.........maybe from an individual that's not a BYB or directly from a breeder. Don't have to make that decision now, I have two sweetie pies. |
Your pet shop must be the exception to the rule, and for that, I'm thankful for you and Chewy:love: I wasn't as lucky myself, unfortunately, but Luna is doing much better now and we probably saved her life. I hate to think what could have happened to her if someone with less Yorkie knowledge (not that I'm an expert or anything) had purchased her. I wish all pet stores treated their animals nicely, but it all comes down to the almighty dollar to most of them. I know that people will still buy from pet stores, it's just a fact of life. It doesn't make us bad people, and YES, these animals also need love and would probably just be euthanized if not bought quickly enough:cry: |
i took my son for trick or treating to the mall the pet store gave out candy and every employee had a puppy in there arms saying this puppy is for sale you can take him home today and all the kids said mom can i im just happy my son does not speak very well he is 2 and i heard him he said puppy home i said what i do not know what your talking about lets go i think people like pet stores cause they have a pay plan take puppy now pay later |
Great thread, I hope some can learn about the horrors of buying petstore puppies but at times its like banging your head against the wall. Maybe some of the puppies are healthy but that does not justify the thousands suffering in mills to put those puppies in the store. |
