| Abigail's Ears are Up Today! My soon to be 12 week old (this coming Monday) female, Abigail's ears are finally/offially up, she had one up all week and the 2nd one came up today! So it's official no more Floppy puppy ears, even though they were cute, she looks much different with them up. Besides that's what I prefer. I had such anxiety over them. I fed her cottage cheese, cheddar cheese and any other kind of cheese she would eat? I even gave her calcium supplements that I pulverised in a pestal & mortar and laced her chicken breast with the pounded calcium powder. Once a day I fed her something with calcium. My Groomer advised me to give her the cottage cheese, so I guess it worked? All that stress over 2 little ears? So now I can relax and stop worrying, if it didn't happen by her 12 week mark I was going to tape them. Good Luck to every one who's trying to get their Baby's ears to stand! |

| Don't be surprised if Abigail's ears play yo-yo for the next few months..stress, illness, vaccines, tooth cutting and any number of things can cause them to flop again. They probably will stand up on their own without as much calcium as you have been giving her. I hope there is no history of kidney stones in her family as they frequently are calcium. I would strongly urge you to check with your vet to find out how much extra calcium supplements you should give your baby. I also would suggest you ask your vet about anything that your groomer suggests that is not directly related to grooming/products. I am not sure how much medical training your groomer has but it pays to err on the side of caution when it comes to medicating these toy breeds. |

| Jewels is 12 weeks too. Her ears were up until we went to the vets and then they flopped again. They have not went back up. So whatever you are doing keep it up sounds like your having more luck than me.

| Yay, Abigail. She looks pretty either way, with the ears up or down. Congrats. I agreed with whispersmom. Is safer to talk to the vet before you suplement calcium. I heard that massaging the ears helps to stand the eras. Last edited by Marie; 04-29-2005 at 05:27 PM. |

| Good job Abigail! Molly's ears went up early, I massaged them a lot. Then one went back down for a couple of weeks. We kept on massaging it and it came back up yesterday. As whispersmom said, I've read many times that they may go up and down so I wasn't that surprised although my husband couldn't believe. He should really get involved with YT!! Abigail may not, just don't get your heart set that they are up for good

| I guess I am the opposite here. I would like Pogo's ears to stay floppy. Any clue how to do this? Anyone else feel the same way? |

| Pogos mom- I kinda like Jewels ears floppy also. I am just not gonna do anything with them and let nature take its course. Her ears were up for a short time and I think shes cuter with them down. Its not a desirable thing for most people for them to be that way but I think its cute.

| I think they are really sweet when they are floppy, too. My first one, Maggie, her ears were actually kind of long I thought. She was sick and only lived a week after I got her, but I was kind of thinking I didn't want hers to stand up because when I would hold them up, she looked a little funny with her ears so long standing on top of her head. She was a beautiful puppy, I just liked her better with her ears down, bless her heart.

| Her ears are still up! We took Abigail to the Vet. this past Wednesday, she had another set of Puppy Shots. She is now 4 pounds and 1 ounce, she was only 3 and a half pounds 3 weeks ago. Girl sure can eat! Afterwards I expected her ears to flop again, based on everyones remarks? And I also expected her to sleep after the shots too? No Luck, she was running at her usual 100 miles an hour and her ears haven't fallen back down either, they are still up! |
