| Help!!!!!! Hello, Well im kinda worried, My baby girl Kisses is going to be 8mth. old on Nov.10 Today i was in the bathroom getting ready for work. Kisses ALWAYS follows me every were i go even if i move a couple of feet she would still follow me well today when we were in the bathroom i had finished getting ready and i turn the light off and walked away thinking Kisses was behind me after i notice that she was not behind me i walked back to the bathroom thinking that i might have closed the door on her, Well when i go there the door was open so i turned the light on and looked around for her after a a couple of min. i started to freak out because i could not find her, after 5min. of looking for her all over the house i see Hershey going back to the bathroom with a toy on his mouth so i followed him, he went behind the water closet and put the toy down. I looked behind an there she was, when i went to pick her up i seen blood on the floor and got scared so i started to check her out, i checked her all over and could not find were she was bleeding from so i sat her on my lap and when i got up i saw a blood stain on my jeans then i notice that she had started her her heat cycle...Im really new at this i dont know what to do, if it hurts her, how many days she's gonna have this for or how often will this happen???...Someone please help me...

| Hi the bleeding tends to last about a week. Other YTers may be able to give you way more info on the oestrus cycle. My lil Dixie dog has just finished her heat. It makes her REALLY grumpy with Dougal but quite smoochy with me. She gets quite ashamed about her bleeding and tries to hide it - that might be why your lil girl was hiding behind the loo. How SWEET that Hershey was taking a toy into Kisses. OMG that is the sweetest thing in the world! I give Dixie lots of cuddles at this time of the year - and doggy chocolate. (Normally my two have to do something before they get a treat but dixie gets choc drops just for being dixie at this time of the year). If you're gonna spay Kisses try to book her in 6-8 weeks after she's finished bleeding. My vet explained that this is the best time in the cycle to do the op.

| depending on the dog it can last about 7-12 days but some do bleed for longer.Usually there is no real change in the dog,she might be a little quieter and will lick herself there more often to try keep it clean. I dont know if your male is nuetered or not but if he isnt you will have to keep them seperated for about 2 weeks to be on the safe side |

| I haven't got a clue about the heat cycle, but just wanted to say what a lucky little girl Kisses to have such a loving mommy and brother to take care of her. Not many brothers would be so loving while their sisters are having PMS. BTW-your babies are beautiful. You should be very proud of them.
