Confusion! Angel is now 58 days along. She's stretching out (and sleeping) a lot, which im told is normal. You can even feel the puppies moving around and kicking. I just took her temp and it's 97.0 but she was eating her puppy food just fine today. Is the temperature check acurate? What about the refusal of food? She is a little piggy and NEVER refuses food lol. Which should I go by? The fact that she has no yet givin up food (so the temp means nothing) or the temperature reading (meaning not all dogs refuse food)? HELP! |
Did the thermometer have poop on the end? If so, you are measuring the temp of the poop and not the dogs actual temp. No matter, cause her temp is dropping and the big event is close.. Sometimes, she will eat like a horse, vomit, poop and start in labor. YorkieRose can tell you about that..for her dogs not herself..LOL |

Her temp is now up to 99.0 but it's staying there. I caught her eating her puppy food 3 times today (I leave a bowl out at all times) which is more then she's eatin in the past few days. I called the vet and they said 97.0 is a little low but as long as it doesnt drop more she should be fine. They told me to watch her closely. So what do you think...puppies in the next 24 hours? |
temp That is very low..take it after she has been walking around for a bit. I have had girls eat while whelping..why miss a meal...others refuse food the day before. |

She still seems normal. Sprawling out every so often but no contracts. Although...she did go poopy earlier and she yelped. I think that has to do with the groomer hurter her snal glands though. I'll check her again now.... |
Okn ow im really confused. i started to take her temp but she jumped in the middle and the thermometer came out. I tried insterting it back but I didnt feel it was accurate eben though it was on 99.9 so I tried again. This time she didnt move at all and it was 97.5 Which do I go by? Why is it fluctuating so much? |
BUMP! Can anyone help? Which is right? Why the fluctuation? Could she not even be in labor? Ahh im so confused!!! |
whelping It is a bit early, but I have had 58 day pups from the first breeding..I would keep her close and check her during the night. You can't miss contactions if you watch her..she will heave and push. She might nest and scratch the blankets...why not wait until morning to try the temp again. |

I'll keep an eye on her like you said. I apologize for being a mess. Im just new to this and want to do everything possible to help her. Thank you for your help and support. It's more appreciated then you know! |
whelping Believe me I know...it will be okay..did you get an xray..if not I would do it tomorrow..always a good idea. No guess work in the middle of the night..is she done or not..? |

Im still worried about her (of coursE). This is her first litter and she's only 11 months old. EEK darn those accidential conceptions |
My Gracie just had her puppies this past Friday. I did the temp thing with her too. I bet her little hiney bo was SO sore. Thursday afternoon, her temp dropped in the 98 degree range. She refused to eat all day--even with can puppy food which is very unusual for her. She started having contractions around midnight. Temp had dropped to 98.3. She started her nesting (scratching) while a puppy was in the birth canal and then she was nesting like a wild woman. Throwing towels about and scratching/tearing newspaper. I was like, HELLLLOOOO!!!! You've had 63 days to do this!!!!! The first puppy was born right after 4 a.m. Gracie carried for 64 days since first tie. Good luck! Just let nature take it's course and quit worrying so much! I know...easier said than done! ;) |

I assume by that if she isnt ready to have them tomorrow that it wont be long after that since she's staying under 100 degrees. Then again..what do I know? lol I'll keep you all posted on her progress or, lack there of lol. |
I just got up about 45 min ago to the sound of Angel vomiting. I moved her off my bed to her whelping box and she threw up again. On my way to the bathroom, I saw a little pile of vomit on the floor (which is probably from late last night). My vet isn't open yet so I called the animal hospital. They said it is not normal for her to be vomiting and for me not to give her food OR water for 4 hours. She's also very lethargic. If you look at her eyes you can tell just how tired she is. She looks like she hasn't slept in days....but she has slept. She still in her whelping box right now, and she's resting, but im worried about her. How many of you have your dog vomit near the end of her pregnancy? Did everything turn out ok? |
Angel Sometimes I wonder about vets..of course vomiting is normal..any book will tell you that..take her in the your regular vet this morning for a look see..better to be safe. I don't like that fact she is lethargic, but it could be her upset tummy. Keep us informed..best wishes |
Sandrine have had the same symptoms before having her first litter . I have her checked by my vet , she was ok . She is in the category , why loose a mealtime . |
Yeah she's just kinda laying around. The Animal hospital said "keep her in a dark, warm room away from the kids and other pets" Obviously I cant sit here in my bedroom all day. I went to get a drink and she followed me to the kitchen. She seemed fine then. She must have wanted to walk around a bit. She then hid 1/2 way under the couch. All you could see was her little tushy lol. Now she's back on my bed (which is probably where she's gonna hev the pups) and she's laying down and resting. Almost like a twightlight sleep. I knew I should have changed the bedding. I have 2, $1200 comforters on there lol. Oh well. As long as she's happy and healthy I don't care. Oh, she's also popped a couple time. It's only been very small amounts each time. Is this too normal? It's like she's cleaning her system out. She doesn't seem sick, just tired and crampy. Ya know how you feel when it's that time of the month? You're just kinda...blah. Well that's how she looks. She's not amused. |
What is the weight of Angel ? Sandrine is 5 pounds 1/2 . |
She was 6 pounds even before getting pregnant. As of last monday the 25th she was 7 pounds 6 ounces. |
Angel Yes..she sounds normal this morning. Pooping is normal, laying around. She has been xrayed and her size is good..all you can do is wait. I would cook her a bit of chicken, a few bites of cheese, but she may refuse it. |

Looks like we're havin' babies today!! |
I hope so but she's on both sides of the fence, One minute she begging my daughter for her food and the next she's plopped on her side. She JUST came out but now she wants to be on my bed. She'll lay still for hours then all of a sudden she's up and around. She's giving me mixed signals lol |

She was really hard to follow . A minute she wanted to be with me , the other she asked to go out , after she wanted her bed . Everything went very good . |

What sucks is I have to get my son from the bus stop in about 45 min and we live in the middle of nowhere. I have to drive to his bus stop (yep its that far) which means Angel is left alone. I hate the idea of her being here alone even if it is only 20 minutes. |
Is there a place you can let her to have some rest ? I mean a puppy pen where you can place her bed or in your bedroom with water for the time you'll be out ? If she is like Sandrine , you'll have to wait as I do . |

I blocked off my bed so she can't get under it anymore. Im afraid she'll have the pups under there and if she does I wont be able to get to her. Right now she is walking around the house so I assume she's doing ok for now. I'll put her in my room (where her whelping box is) and close the door when it's time to get my son. Hopefully she'll be ok while im gone. |

They have a lot of the same characteristics. Where did you get her from (if you don't mind me asking) |
