Confusion! Angel is now 58 days along. She's stretching out (and sleeping) a lot, which im told is normal. You can even feel the puppies moving around and kicking. I just took her temp and it's 97.0 but she was eating her puppy food just fine today. Is the temperature check acurate? What about the refusal of food? She is a little piggy and NEVER refuses food lol. Which should I go by? The fact that she has no yet givin up food (so the temp means nothing) or the temperature reading (meaning not all dogs refuse food)? HELP! |
Did the thermometer have poop on the end? If so, you are measuring the temp of the poop and not the dogs actual temp. No matter, cause her temp is dropping and the big event is close.. Sometimes, she will eat like a horse, vomit, poop and start in labor. YorkieRose can tell you about that..for her dogs not herself..LOL |

Her temp is now up to 99.0 but it's staying there. I caught her eating her puppy food 3 times today (I leave a bowl out at all times) which is more then she's eatin in the past few days. I called the vet and they said 97.0 is a little low but as long as it doesnt drop more she should be fine. They told me to watch her closely. So what do you think...puppies in the next 24 hours? |
temp That is very low..take it after she has been walking around for a bit. I have had girls eat while whelping..why miss a meal...others refuse food the day before. |

She still seems normal. Sprawling out every so often but no contracts. Although...she did go poopy earlier and she yelped. I think that has to do with the groomer hurter her snal glands though. I'll check her again now.... |
Okn ow im really confused. i started to take her temp but she jumped in the middle and the thermometer came out. I tried insterting it back but I didnt feel it was accurate eben though it was on 99.9 so I tried again. This time she didnt move at all and it was 97.5 Which do I go by? Why is it fluctuating so much? |
BUMP! Can anyone help? Which is right? Why the fluctuation? Could she not even be in labor? Ahh im so confused!!! |
whelping It is a bit early, but I have had 58 day pups from the first breeding..I would keep her close and check her during the night. You can't miss contactions if you watch her..she will heave and push. She might nest and scratch the blankets...why not wait until morning to try the temp again. |

Im still worried about her (of coursE). This is her first litter and she's only 11 months old. EEK darn those accidential conceptions |
My Gracie just had her puppies this past Friday. I did the temp thing with her too. I bet her little hiney bo was SO sore. Thursday afternoon, her temp dropped in the 98 degree range. She refused to eat all day--even with can puppy food which is very unusual for her. She started having contractions around midnight. Temp had dropped to 98.3. She started her nesting (scratching) while a puppy was in the birth canal and then she was nesting like a wild woman. Throwing towels about and scratching/tearing newspaper. I was like, HELLLLOOOO!!!! You've had 63 days to do this!!!!! The first puppy was born right after 4 a.m. Gracie carried for 64 days since first tie. Good luck! Just let nature take it's course and quit worrying so much! I know...easier said than done! ;) |

I assume by that if she isnt ready to have them tomorrow that it wont be long after that since she's staying under 100 degrees. Then again..what do I know? lol I'll keep you all posted on her progress or, lack there of lol. |
I just got up about 45 min ago to the sound of Angel vomiting. I moved her off my bed to her whelping box and she threw up again. On my way to the bathroom, I saw a little pile of vomit on the floor (which is probably from late last night). My vet isn't open yet so I called the animal hospital. They said it is not normal for her to be vomiting and for me not to give her food OR water for 4 hours. She's also very lethargic. If you look at her eyes you can tell just how tired she is. She looks like she hasn't slept in days....but she has slept. She still in her whelping box right now, and she's resting, but im worried about her. How many of you have your dog vomit near the end of her pregnancy? Did everything turn out ok? |
Angel Sometimes I wonder about vets..of course vomiting is normal..any book will tell you that..take her in the your regular vet this morning for a look see..better to be safe. I don't like that fact she is lethargic, but it could be her upset tummy. Keep us informed..best wishes |
