Hahahahaha, he wanted a fresh treat! LMAO!:lol tears |
Hi, my oldest boy Maxx does that. My vet told me to sprinkle lowery's seasoning salt on the cat's food and it will stop him from eating their poop and it works! The vet said it makes the cat's poop smell and taste awful to him, so you might try that ok? |
:fainted: I think you have lead a very sheltered life!!! You are 31 years old, have 4500+ posts on here and this is the FIRST time you've ever had a pup eat other pets poop??? You are one lucky person!! :sidesplt: :sidesplt: |
Dogs love cat poo....I had to move my litter box and gate it so Bear wouldn't get it....Its gross but for some reason they like it..... |
My yorkie doesn't do it, but I have a new Cockapoo who loves her pooh. When I mentioned it to the vet, he said it was a learned habit, as a child does biting their nails. I had to teach her to break her habit. They gave me the powder, called forbid to put on her food and all it did was give her diahrea. But she didn't eat it. So I decided to try other things. I put tobasco on it and she said, Thanx for the mexican hotdog!!! So now I just try to be out when she goes and pick it up ASAP. If she does munch some, there is nothing I an do about it, but Gag! My husband says she is just recycling. But he has a weird sense of humor. I am hoping she will outgrow it. She is only 14 weeks old. And for now there are no face kisses! If you find something that works let me know. I tried the pineapple and she wouldn't eat it. Debbie |
OMG. I deal with this ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!:tongue4: :confuse8: SOOOOO GROSS. It is very common. Especially among puppies. Mine are selective though. A dog that I used to have (she passed away in June) only ever ate cat poop while we were babysitting my aunts cat for a while. She never touched any of the other dogs poop. My rat terrier only eats the chihuahuas poop. My yorkie will eat the chinese cresteds, and the rat terriers, and the chinese crested will eat anyones, including his own-even AS IT IS COMING OUT!!!!! The yorkie and crested are stilll puppies, and use pee pads (just until next month when we move out of our apartment and into a house), so we are always on poop patrol. As soon as we hear a rustle of their paws on the pee pad we spring up off the couch and try to beat the mad rush to grab the poop before someone snags it. It is getting old, very quickly. I am hoping that once they go outside only, they will lose some desire to eat it. I have heard several reasons, lacking certain nutrients, need for cleanliness in their living space, and "just a puppy thing they grow out of" I believe there are a lot of home remedies that are supposed to work. I haven't tried anything yet, but one is papaya. If you feed it to the animal who's poop is being eaten, it will make thier poop taste bad. It seems like a harmless thing to try. I definately don't think that you have anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on your dog, and watch for vomiting or loose stools. The smell of vomited up poop is just horrific! They will in all likelihood be just fine though. Good luck. You are definately not alone. I know soo many crested owners who deal with this problem. But it is very disgusting. I know. |
Oh, one more thing. If your dog is eating cat poop out of the litter box, I believe that there are certain types of litter that you should avoid. You should probably look into that right away. I don't think the poop will do anything, but I recall hearing something about certain types of litter that are harmful. This was a long while ago, so I don't remember any specifics, I don't have any cats, so sorry I can't give you more info on it. Also, just moving the little box, up onto a desk, or table where the pooch can't reach it is also an easy solution, if you haven't already tried that. |
