:( Poor Baby! Poor Mommy! What a frightful event. My son took his jack russell with him to Texas in a little dog carrier inside the cabin but of course he had to pay for it. Not a whole fare but he didn't get a seat for him either. He had to have it between his legs on the floor or on is lap. We only travel by car now that we have two little furbabies and so many hotels are allowing pets. The airport will surely put the blame on you..........kinda like fighting City Hall. I'm just so glad that you found him and dogs are so adaptable. In time he will forget..........until his next airport adventure.

I am a bit confused by the above answer though because even in CARGO they absolutely must have vet papers and shot verification. Also when you check in you have to stand there and answer questions and they check the pup right then before you go off to get your plane.:confused: Plus even to ride CARGO you have to make reservations??? I'm really confused about the whole thing. Maybe I missed something:confused:

was he in the crate in the first place???? I think ive misunderstood it read like you left home and went to the airport and left the crate to get on the plane without knowing if he was in there????
did he get the flight? and who found him ?? ...there you go ... i did say i was confused! :)

No doubt there must be more to the story that was left out due to time restraints or whatever, because I sure don’t even begin to understand what happened here. Leave your home on vacation, don't check or hear from your pup on the drive to the airport, hand your pup off to a stranger without making sure she is ok, and get your pup back matted and muddy three hours after checking into your hotel. No doubt strange things happen while traveling, but this whole thread is just bizarre…….:confused:

I have a question since I have never flown with Minnie before. But if you go in Cabin don't you have to use a two different type of carriers. In cabin soft side in Cargo a hard type of carrier? And you I thought you had to prove shots for cabin and cargo.

We are currently in Chicago. I'm still trying to get around the windy city. It's really nice here...I love the weather

It was Continental Airlines. I always use this airline for everything and this is the first time I've had a bad experience with them

OMG how scary! I'm so glad he's back home with you. Rather the airline will take responsibility or not, someone there needs to answer your questions. I would call corporate on them, that's just not right.

I just had a cocker pup shipped to me from Oh. and Continental lost him too. Only they lost the whole crate with him in it. It was 3 days before I finally got him then they tried to tell me I had to pay $100.00 a night for boarding him. Needless to say I didn't pay a thing. The poor puppy was dehydrated and was hungry from not being fed. I've only flown dogs 2 times in my life and this was my first experience with continental and I will never use them again. I'm glad you got your dog back. You are lucky that you did.

Why would you have to pay when they lost him? Makes no sense to me.

I'm confused she said she remembered putting him in the crate when she left for the airport but didn't check it after that. Are you saying you lost him before you even got on your flight, or are you saying the airline lost him somewhere between getting on your flight and arriving at your destination?

Where was he found, your home town or where you are for vacation?

After the whole incident they then said that they had kenneled him in Houston and because of the weather they couldn't put him on the plane therefore I had to pay for the kenneling which was $100.00 a night. They never admitted to losing him but how could he miss his connection in Houston when he was there for 3 days? Didn't make any sense to me.

You should contact corporate. That's not right at all. They lost your dog, and want you to pay! That's BS

After I got Eric they agreed to forgo the fee. I told them I would not pay it. I think they knew that they weren't going to get a cent from me. And that they were in the wrong. I ended up getting him and not paying for the kenneling fee. I will never use Continental again though.

I've travelled with Winnie but in cabin and on American Airlines. Just FYI neither American Airlines nor NWA require a vet record when travelling in cabin however it is recommended that you have one because the state you are travelling to might require one. I believe they do require one when travelling as cargo. Glad you got your little one back.
