I come from Toronto, Ontario and we have now become the capital in Canada for yorkie owners and lovers. Here in Toronto vets are only prescribing hard food. Dry food only, every now and then some people food but this is rare. I buy Natural Lite I think is the name of it. Lamb & Rice formula. They love it. They are eating as I type this.

Currently Kona and Bernie get a mix of Chicken Soup for the Puppy and Merricks. For dinner I mix in a little bit of raw food for them...they love that more than the Merrick's wet that I sometimes mix in.

Gracie is currently liking Nutro puppy, dry and wet. She will also eat Royal Canin Dry, and Chicken Soup Puppy dry. She liked Merrick for a while but then suddenly stopped eating it.

we'll give nugget soft food sometimes as a treat.....he gets jealous of the cat's soft food

Katy gets Royal Canin as well. For a while it was the only thing should would eat.

I tolf the lady at the day care that Katy is very picky but she let me know yesterday that she didn't know why I said that. Evidently she will eat anything that all of the other dogs are eating.

Oh that is really great....mine are all so picky and then when they do eat a different dogfood or anything other then chicken for people food they get throwiing up and diareaha......

Hi everyone,

Again you all came thru with your ideas and shared your feeding habits and everyone is benefiting from what you all said.

I love Yorkie talk because you all have something to say that some of us didn't know.

I myself have only fed Chiquita Royal Canin. But this little 5lb dog also gets treats all day long. Because she is outside so much and has so much activity in the house she drink a bucket of water and eats everything including all her food and treats. I feed her only organic treats but alot. I use all her treats for training and when she completes some task that I have taught her, she knows she is getting her treat. I only put her treats in her food bowl with her food and never from my hand. She only gets treats from my hand when she is outside and is being trained. She eats like a horse and never gains a pound.

How are you guys feeding your yorkie treats and what are you giving them?

My two don't get TOO many treats. They get a treat before I leave for work in the mornings, they get a treat when I leave the house after lunch to go back to work, and they may get a treat or two at night for doing something good, like going outside. Hootie gets mostly Milkbones. She LOVES them. She is just now starting to lose baby teeth and she's cutting adult teeth. The Milkbones help her shed those baby teeth so hopefully she won't have to get many pulled. Hobbs likes a Milkbone every now and then, but he doesn't particularly care for them. He is a year old and has already lost his baby teeth. Since he doesn't care too much for the Milkbones, he gets soft treats like Pupperoni or BilJac Liver treats.

I give Snickers and Baxter treats first thing in the morning so they have something in their stomach before breakfast. They usually get a couple of chicken/rice balls and some Pampered pet oatmeal treats. Mid-afternoon they get another treat - I rotate between MilkBone Gravy bones, By Nature spiced molasses treat, and Daisy's Deli yogurt dipped bones. They LOVE those.
