| Kizzy ate a librium today well hate to tell this but when my daughter was living with her heart problems, I finally had to start taking an anti anxiety drug, but i'm scared of medicines and my body can't handle much. So I would never take anything even tho everybody told me I needed something before I got bad and had to take something strong. So ever since, once in a while if I feel kinda anxious or very nervous i'll take one. But its librium only 10 mgs which my dr said he had never written a prescription for under 25 mgs before me. I rarely take one so this morning, dont know why I didnt feel good and I got my medicine out and I dropped one in the floor and Kizzy is fast as a fly and she beat me to it and just grabbed it and swallowed it. I was pretty upset, hubby said she would be ok but he isnt a vet so what does he know. Well I called the vet and told him and sure enough he said 10 mg's is so low its very little and she would be ok but it might make her a little tired or sleepy and just watch and make sure she didnt start acting strange but he felt she would be fine. Well let me tell you, she was fine except one thing, I think it worked backwards on her, I really believe she was more hyper today than shes ever been and thats saying a good bit. But at least it didnt hurt her and shes been fine all day but, they can be taken 4 times a day as my dr wanted me to take it that often when my daughter died but I never took over a couple a day, one morning and one at night during all that. I'm just not a medicine person. mainly I needed the pill today especially after kizzy got the first one i dropped. I felt like if it killed her, it would be my fault and I didnt want to have to ever live with something like that. I just cant kill things. anyway kizzy is fine but I was scared.

| OH GOSH! Linda! You scared me there for a second!!!!!!!! I'm so glad that Kizzy is alright. You are not a bad mom. I have dropped pills, too, and the yorkies go for them but I say NO! and they usually back away. But it could just as easily been anyone here. No worries now that she is alright. |

| First I just want to say how sorry I am to hear that you lost a daughter. my heart goes out to hunny. I know how hard a loss like that is. I lost a sister to a car accident and watched my mom go through some very tough times.. She too needed some medication afterwards. There is nothing wrong with that.. I just lost bothe of my parents not too long ago and I also had to take something to help ease the anxiety and pain. Im so glad to hear that Kizzy is ok. They are so fast arent they! Bella ate 2 advill a while back, and got really sick but is ok now thank God! Please give Kizzy hugs and kisses from me Louie, and Bella..

| thanks for all your responses. First, yes I also take it for IBS too as nothing else has seemed to help. But next, I hold my bottle over the counter top on the island, but when it fell it hit the edge of it and that made it bounce and bout the time i saw where it went kizzy was already there and grabbed it and swallowed it right up. I dont take much medicines and I am careful with any kind, even tylenol. Dogs hearing directions are really lots better than ours as far as hearing where something hits the floor. So I did all I could do and I was soooooooo surprised that she seemed so hyper after. But ya know some medicines like that will react totally different on different people. I have a sister that cant take it because it makes her jumpy. thanks to all for your concerns. I appreciate your thoughts.

This happened to my cousin...her dachshaund (sp?) ended up swallowing one of her high blood pressure pills...Her vet told her to give him either 1/2 or 1 tsp of peroxide and it made him vomit...He was ok but slept most of the day...Before I treated one of the girls I would ALWAYS call the vet first..you never know if it's something you don't want coming back up.. Glad to here little Kizzy is ok.
