| What is the difference in a backyard breeder and a breeder. I don't understand the difference. The lady I purchased Molly from had a whole house devoted to her dogs. It was a small two room house behind her own home.(in her back yard) It had heat and air. She had alot of dogs. Some she showed and some she breed. It was clean. As far as I know Molly doesn't have any health issues. And didn't have parvo or any worms even when I got her. Molly has champion blood lines and is registered. I don't understand the whole pet quality thing. Is this when a show breeder has some pups not worth showing? Molly is a super great dog. I don't think she is show quality but, she is family quality. She is the best dog I have ever owned as far a temperment and being smart. I guess My breeder may have been a backyard breeder. Sorry this has gotten lengthy. I guess what I am trying to say is that as long as you have a good heathy dog does it matter where it came from. Connie K

| I have no idea where Pippa came from. She was a gift from my daughter's boyfriend. I have a feeling it is not somewhere I would have bought from, since the transaction took place in a Wal Mart parking lot. Scout was from a woman who has a pair of Yorkies that she has bred three times. She doesn't really do it for the money. They are home raised and she is a wonderful Yorkie mom. I went to her home to see the parents and other pups before I made a decision. Even though I think you would consider her a BYB, there are levels of BYB from good to bad. Scout was so socialized and sweet as a pup. I would buy from her again in a minute!

| i think the difference between a byb and a good breeder is not weather they show the dogs or weather they have a good pedigree or weather there pups are bred to be standard, i think its weather the breeder cares about the dogs and puppies, if they are loved, looked after, well fed, health checked, wormed, had there jabs, new homes vetted, that is what shows the difference between a good and bad breeder. i got my scampi back in 88 and most breeders didnt bother with health checks then and they would sell the pups to pet shops, scampi came from a pet shop but it was a good one they were loved and cared for but imo not the best place to have pups no matter how well cared for, scampi had a good pedigree 5 cruff champs and was never ill his whole 15 years of life. sasha came from a so called good home breeder and yes she was loved and cared for but i guess not health checked as she had everything going in her 12 years of life from mites to cancer, the breeders husband bought her to my home and traveled miles to get to me and also bought 2 other pups with him as he didnt want to leave them on there own, sasha was loved and cared for but sadly the breeder had a good heart but no understanding of health checks. so just cos you think its a good breeder doesnt always turn out that way, and not always are pups from a shop treated badly as like i said scampi was a lot more healthy than sasha.
