Mutts??? I always say that Biddy as a Yorkie even though she is 1/2 Jack Russell (she looks WAY more yorkie than Jack - you would never know that she was 1/2 if you saw her). I feel like I am always in denial of he Jack Russell heritage!! I am ashamed to say that I am embarressed to tell people she is a mutt (I hate the word mutt by the way!!!) :( I know you guys love all dogs, but I'm always afraid you'll think less of her!! :embarasse I feel like I'm going to get blacklisted from YT!!!! I know I am just being paranoid, but Biddy is such a princess I would hate it if anyone thought less of her! I just wanted get this off my chest!!! Are there any other "mutts" out there??? |
I know there's a lot or prejudice in the world but there are very few "enlightened" and intelligent people who would consider a mutt or mixed breed dog to be any less because he/she is not "purebred". Although all of my dogs are purebreds it is only because I was always looking for a specific breed. It is not that I ever planned to show my dogs in conformation shows or breed them. I have shown in obedience in the past and would love to get into agility. I think the purebred status is definitely overrated and can be used to discriminate and suggest "quality" but, as with people, dogs are sometimes better (not used to be offensive) when they are a mix of certain genes. There are people who believe that some purebreds have led to temperament problems in certain breeds. So, bottomline...do not feel uncomfortable about the fact that you own a "mutt". Mutt is a great four letter word on this forum!! |
Thanks - this helps!! Believe me - I wouldn't trade her in for any champion. This is my issue, not hers! This does make me feel better though :) |
Mix breeds...aka mutts NO Worries! My baby Rex is half Yorkie n half maltese. Mix breeds or 'mutts'can sometimes be the best because you can get the best out of both breeds! |
I don't think you should be worried. This is your baby and you love her. Especially now a days non-pure breds are really popular. Yorkapoos...goldapoos...there are so many out there, I can't think of them all... Love her for her, and we (YT) will befriend you for you. And Biddy, as well. If any one blacklists you then that is their problem and not yours. |
so.... so..dont be ashjamed..let it shine and when people ask you ur pup's breed, say he a freak of nature :p LOL. Be proud of what he is. When people ask me this question is pick up my baby (mighty big....he is 5 months and he is 7.5 lbs) and say he is a mutt. they get a little "eww" look on their face at that, but then i put Rex's face up close to them and when he looks thm in the eye, the cant resist petting orr holding him,...they all leave saying 'Thats the cutest puppy ever!!!!!!!" :animal-sm |
don't feel like that. me personally all my life when i see puppies i have always picked out the "different" looking pup, i think they are unique and should be loved just the same. don't get offended by the word, but we also have a "mutt" his name is Cracker aka Uncle Cracker or Cracker Jack :D and we wouldn't trade him for the world. we "saved" him from a cold ice storm one year and he's been with us ever since (took mom a while to get use to that, lol). to me their all they same purebreed, mixbreed they all want one thing, love! |
It really doesn't matter. All it matters is that you love her. |
Ohhhh, please don't feel that you are ANY less welcome. When I first started coming here, I only had my mix, Sandy, who has the Cairn terrier body with a Yorkie head :) I felt MORE than welcome -- just as you are! We love ALL our babies, regardless of if there is a little mix in there - she's just as much of a princess as the rest!! :) |
There is no way you will ever be blacklisted from yorkietalk for having a "mutt"!! I think everyone here loves all dogs an can appreciate all the differences. We just happen to love yorkies a little more! :D As for the "mutt" issue, it seems to me that mutts are actually quite fashionable nowadays. Doesn't Jessica Simpson have a mix breed. I can't remember, maybe a malti-poo? Celebrate your dog, no matter what their pure-ness status is! :D |
Biddy Is The Best!! Lol Be Proud For Ur Pooch |
Thank you guys so much! I feel guilty for feeling funny about it, and believe me I LOVE this dog (and my other puppy Tucker - he is a purebred ;)). I know this is all that should matter, but I guess it's only human to care what other people think of you (and your dog!). Believe me, as far as Biddy is concerned, she is NO mutt!! She is not lacking ANY self-esteem!!! Thanks again :teethysmi |
3 Attachment(s) I have a "mutt" His name is Oreo and my first pup! (well i got him before Ginger) he's a Yorkie/Pomeranian Mix. His face takes after the Yorkie but his coat and body takes after the Pomeranian. But his temperament is very unique and thats why i love him so much! |

I LOVE HIM!!! |
:happybounce: we are soo good! and dont worry,...my "mutt" never is lacking in self-usteem...just like a yorkie, he thinks he is the biggest dog of all:happybounce: |
hELOOOOOO A puppy is a puppy they are all cute your always welcome i got your invitation today to be pup pals and i thought to myself why i never seen that pup before hes so cute !!:D |
We love mutts and their hoomans. WELCOME!!! What we don't like is people who try to make money by calling them fancy, schmancy names and misrepresenting their financial worth. They are wonderful animals and I am sure most of us have nothing but the fondest of memories of our mutt companion when we were kids. |

Kodah is getting a "mutt" :D companion probably the end of this week. We are getting a yorkie/maltese ON PURPOSE! We (but especially me) love Yorkies, but my husband gets to pick our second dog. We love Maltese, but I just think I would go crazy trying to keep the hair clean, WHITE & groomed!!! So we went on a search for a Morkie/Yorktese (as some call them) & gosh it was hard to find them, but finally did. She will be ten weeks old this Thursday so we will be picking her up shortly thereafter. I agree with whispermom2 - I don't think anyone wouldn't love a mix/mutt on this site, but it's the people misrepresenting their financial worth. But, I know what you mean about being a little nervous mentioning you have a mix - however I think it's US because I haven't heard anything but acceptance & praise for any puppy/dog on this site!!!! By the way, Biddy & Tucker are both cuties!! |
So what that she isn't all yorkie, I suspect alot of our so called full bred yorkies have something snuck in there somewhere other then a yorkie. Besides do any of us really no what breed we are? The love of a sweet doggie sent from heaven, no matter what route it took to get here is all that matters. Be proud that you have such a sweet fur baby to love and get love from! :) |
Biddy's Mom, we love your baby even if he is part elephant. What I have found with the people on here is that they just love:) It doesn't matter what kind it is, all yorkie, part yorkie, or not a yorkie at all, they have love in their hearts and it flows thru these post!!! Quite frankly, I think it's a miracle to have found a site with so many caring people all in the same place!!! This site isn't just caring about yorkies, it's about caring for our pets and EACH OTHER!!! I love little Biddy and I KNOW everyone else here does too! I'm glad you shared how you were feeling! I hope others who are holding back read this thread and feel safe enough to just jump in with both feet:) This is a wonderful place to gather! |

Yeah - Biddy was actually bred "on purpose" too. This is the second time the breeder bred Yorkie/Jack Russells (I call her a Jorkie!) The weird thing is that the Jack was the mom & the Yorkie was the dad - I don't know why but that just struck me as odd! Anyway, my mom fell in love with her, bought her, then couldn't keep her :( So I ended up with her & it was the best thing that ever happened to me :) Good luck with your new one!! |
rachelfraim = we better see pics of yours new baby when you get it :Dpictures is a must on this site !! |

like u said..mutts unite!!!!!! |
biddy is a doll. don't be embarassed at all. she does look all yorkie, but IMO purebreds are overrated. |
same with me..purebred yorkie look snobby and like preppy....my dog is a mutt and i am proud of it. he soo scruffy LOL ...My lil Morkie..or is it a Yorktese ....well whatever he is i love him....not the prettiness on the outside its the prettiness on the inside that matters...i made that up :D :lol tears |

ditto! :) I was thinking the same thing when I read the post. |

Like you can see we don't care that your pup is a mix breed. What is important is that you love her. I also agreed with whispermom. Biddy is adorable. :aimeeyork |
