Hi from Sunny Florida Hi All, I have only had my beautiful baby boy, Toby, for six months. He will be one year old this month. He is so sweet, playful and a real character. I was a little worried about the housetraining from what I had read off several web sites but it was a breeze. He was totally trained in 10 days.....wow was I surprised. He is really really smart. I also have a beautiful four year old female maltese, Kallie. We are keeping both of them in full coat! What a job but they are so so beautiful together. He is a real brave guy when we are at home but when we take him out to the pet store....he shivers like he is scared or nervous. The previous owner said she had no problem. Does anybody else have this problem or solution???

| Hi and welsome to YT. I have found that its common for yorkies to be a bit nervous in new situations and around new smells like in a pet store. I find they like their people and want to stay close. Have fun on the site!!

Welcome! I just cut my maltese down into a really cute cut. I really enjoy keeping mine in her full silky coat, broke my heart to cut it. Oh well, that's what babies will do for a girl. Sorry, no help for the nervousness.

Hi and Welcome. I'm sort of a newbie myself but have found YT to be so interesting and informative. Everyone is so kind and helpful...and just plain friendly. I really think you'll enjoy it. My husband has.....it has kept me off of ebay!!! Seems like I'm not too far away from you. We live in Beverly Hills, Florida. We're not too far from Ocala and Crystal River. I'm in the process of looking for another little addition to our family. Did you get your baby from a local breeder? As far as the nervousness goes, I think it's just as someone else mentioned. I think it's the new sights, sounds, and smells. My Hank gets very nervous in new situations also but he does okay as long as we're with him. Again, welcome and enjoy!

Wow Hi everyone, It was geat to get such feedback about the nervousness and of course the "welcoming" spirit. I know where Crystal River is.....we purchased our little Toby from an individual there when he was only six months. She had to go back to work and so we had been looking for a companion for our Maltese and we had intended on getting another maltese but when we went to see him, he was so beautiful and so cute.....well, we wound up with a Yorkie, and we don't regret it one bit. They get along great!!! But he does not do well accepting other dogs in our neighborhood. Actually snaps at another little yorkie two houses down and wants nothing to do with him. I'm just glad he took to our maltese.....it's so much fun to watch them play except when he pulls her bows out and breaks her hair off. But I am switching to barretts and hopefully that will cut down on the breakage. Again thanks for all the responses to this newbie.

Wow, Tampa is about an hours drive from Spring Hill. We used to live in Tampa five years ago in the Westshore area. Actually lived in Tampa for over 45 years but decided to get out of the hussle and bussle of big city......but this place is booming with building. Yorkies are great!!!!
