Get laminate flooring...the pee puddles up and I can mop it away..of course Kate and Emee use the pads, but have missed the edge of the pad a number of times when younger...I will never live in a house with wall to wall again...

Izzie is such a lovey. I'm sure with your continued patience she'll come around. Have you considered homeopathy (anxiety) for her barking? It's not a cure all but could provide a calming of sorts while you continue to work with controlling her bark.

It was a marathon with trying to get Gigi (my 1 yr old Yorkie) house trained. It took almost a year. I started with crate training and the piddle pads. I also wanted her to learn to go outside as well. A friend of mine suggested I try the Poochie Bells. They worked like a charm. She took to ringing them almost immediately. Her preference now is outside. She seems to go on the piddle pads only if it's an emergency

Well I have the laminate floor. I Don't like it that well . If you catch the pee fast you can get it right up But if you wait even a half hour It may lift and peel . I would rather tile the Whole House. Good luck with what ever you choose to do I know it has got to be very hard to do.

I know, I would worry about her that is part of what is holding me back. She's just the sweetest thing, but I have 4 including her and a Golden in the house. So I need a bigger house....LOL If I decide to sell her I will worry I'm sure. I just want it to be the right decision so I'll have no regrets.

I think you should keep her and do tile instead of laminate - it will lift/peel if you don't get the urine up quickly - wood would be better than laminate, imo. You could also rip up the carpets and go concrete (if you have concrete under the carpet). It is a lot of work to sand and stain the concrete, but it is absolutely beautiful and you will have no worries about urine. We built on a den and office and left the concrete bare and stained it - everyone absolutely loves it.

I did put down laminate flooring and I am sorry, sorry, sorry. I wish I would have listened to suggestions offered and put down tile....ceramic, non slippery. Its so easy to take care of.... The laminate is starting to buckle up (due to poor installation) and can't be fixed. I do believe urine can get in between the boards.
As for the barking... I am going thru the same thing with my pup Isis. I have been working with her, when company comes, I put a colar on her with a short leash and keep her by my side. Its kinda like bonding. But it does quiet her down while the company is here. We started this about two weeks ago and it seems to be working... I also use the shhhhhh shhhhhh sound...and the word quiet Isis.

As for the pad training, be patient and consistent. Start back at square one if you need to. I always suggest crate training, it is so easy and it it the quickest and most successful with house training. Always take her to the pad and don't let her get off of it until she goes.

Hang in there, it takes time and sometimes it seems so hard and impossible, but it is not, just be consistent and patient and it will pay off in the end.

Ah, gee! I'm glad I'm not faced with that decision. I think you should keep her and correct the problems. Don't you think you can do it? She doesn't sound like the kind of yorkie that takes up with other people easily anyway. So there! Ya gotta keep her. Then you won't worry. I know. I'm not a bit of help. I suppose you could try it with a yt member that has another small yorkie. ONLY YOU can make this decision. ONLY YOU has any idea how she'd feel if you sold her. I couldn't do it. I told you I wasn't a bit of help.

If the laminate was not installed correctly, then I can see your point...I have not has a problem..but with stone or tile I find the grout is a problem with urine..nothing is perfect is it?? LOL

Isn't there some kind of sealant that can be put on the laminate? I don't think ceremic tiles will work for us. Our winters are very cold sometimes and I think it would make the house seem colder...or am I wrong? I will ask next time I'm out looking again and see if there is a sealant for the laminate, otherwise I guess I'll have to stick to carpet and keep vigilant about watching for signs of having to go. We are going to put up some fencing hoping to get them started going out more, so we'll see.
