| Teacup or not? How do you know if your yorkie is considered a Teacup? Also when do they normally stop growing? Butter's is 7 months and he weights about 2lbs.

| He is not a TEACUP (BC "teacup" is just a falls name for a very small dog) but he is a tiny yorkie for sure.

| As the others said, there are no "teacup" yorkies. They are considered to be a "toy" breed. The breeders who advertise their small puppies as "teacups" and charge exorbitant prices are misleading alot of people. You do have a tiny yorkie since he's 7 mos. and weighs 2 lbs. It's hard to say if he will stay that small or not. I've heard of people thinking their dogs are going to be really small because they don't grow as fast as others, then all of a sudden, they start growing like crazy. It's just something you can't predict. Mine is under 2 lbs. at 12 1/2 weeks, and his parents are both small, but I have no idea how big he will be. It doesn't matter to me, as long as he is healthy. |

| Mine is 1lbs 2.5 onz at 10 weeks ... we think he is going to be a small size...although he was not the smallest one in his litter. Yours will probably be a tiny yorkie, since they grow very little after 7 months. |

| You definitely have a tiny guy on your hands I would say. Oscar seemed to stop growing around 7mths - he hasn't grown, but seems to be filling out now and has gained half a pound. He weighs 3.5lbs now at 11mths and I wouldn't be surprised if he gains another half a pound by the time he's done growing. Like someone else said - your baby may still have a growth spurt left in him, but even so, I don't think it's likely that he will exceed 3.5lbs. Post some pics!

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Yes, as the others have said, there is no "real teacup", it is just a term that people use (namely breeders) as a sales pitch to advertise really tiny pups But yeah, ok, alot (not all) breeders do "consider" pups that grow to be 4 lbs or under a "teacup". However, I wouldn't use this term if I were you...it upsets alot of people! LOL

| Lucy was 2 pounds at 6 months and stopped growing for 3 months. Then she started growing again. She is now 3 pounds 12 ounces at 14 months. |

K. C. was that weight at 12 weeks and he still managed to get to 3 lbs. 14 oz. Actually, right now he is 4 lbs. 1 oz. We have a litter of puppies and everyone seems to think they need to be fed and spoiled right along with the babies! RMThompson, Since you have already been educated that teacup Yorkies do not exist, I will just say that if they did, I think the weight range would be anything under 4 pounds. | |
