I don't know ... I've never had that problem. When I brought my home and put it out, my dogs immediately drank from it. Maybe you should remove the regular water bowl and just leave that out ... they will eventually drink from it. They are probably not using it because they don't "like" it, not because they don't know how.

Jake gets his face wet when he drinks too, so I towel dry him right away and he hasn't smelled bad. He always seems to get it wet right after a good brushing lol

I just bought a hampster bottle at Walmart for a couple of dollars & Little Bit picked up on it right away. I also leave a water dish underneath it in case it should leak and occasionally put some water in it just to make sure she is comfortable with drinking either way. As siomeone said, I think they prefer the dish but will also use the bottle. Good luck.

Hahahaha, that is how my Annika is, but now that I have the pet water feeder, no more slobby wet face for her . . . I have to figure out how to make sure she does not mess up her face when she eats though

I just posted what my babies use these days. It did not take them long to figure out. All I did was call their attention and touched the spout and so a drip came out . . .then they started licking . . .now they're so used to it. And the nice thing about it all is that it is so sanitary and tap water is okay to use. I just use one bottle and recycle it.

I have the same problem, even though when she was a pup she was in a puppy pen with her litter and thatz the way they were given water .... you'd think it was going to be natural for her ... but shez afraid of it.

Does anyone know of an enticing liquid (good smell) we could put in the water that is safe but will attract her to it?

If she is into soft food or cottage cheese, dab a bit onto the spout . . . hopefully that helps. Both my furkids picked up on it a few minutes after I got my water feeder installed.
