| Opinions Please!!! I've found a local breeder with male pups 8wks old, ACA registered, and said they will be the 5-6lbs for $975. What does it mean that their ACA registered and not AKC? and does this sound like a good idea? I am going to look at the today. |

| I forget what ACA stands for but its just a different registry than AKC. The only thing I question is that 975 seems high to not be AKC registered. Akc is the registry that at least gives you some ancestory on your dog. Is $975 a good pric for your area??

| availability a problem Well that's what i'm having trouble with, I can't seem to hardly find any breeders in my area. I've done a lot of searching online and have found some for $1000 registered, garauntees and all, and they are usually said to be teacup in size, but they're in other states and would have to be shipped for an additional 200. I was thinking too that 975 seems like a lot for one that's not going to be a smaller one, and also it's a male. I'm pretty sure the parents are on site. Is there anything in particular i should look for maybe? |

| It all depends on how comfortable you feel about the breeder and how important papers really are to you. My puppy is AKC and she was $900 because of her "faults" -- mind you, this is in CA where it is almost unheard of to find an AKC female for this price..

| I would just look at the conditions the puppies are kept in. Maybe ask to see some ancestry on the parents find out the parents weight etc. I would ask her why she didn't Akc register. Some people would say this is a red flag. It may be just because the fees are higher but you can't show that dog without Akc register. Also if you decide you want to breed it most people want AKC puppies. The puppies really should not be coming home from the breeder untill 12 weeks also. Alot of breeders send them home at 8 week however. I can't think of anything else but someone else may.

| Aren't you from CA? If I remember correctly, you are from California right? Please please be careful, I purchased my yorkies from a newspaper ad in the LA Times and before I finally got my two boys (who also had health issues) I was given a tiny who had liver shunt, pnuemonia and sarcoptic mange, he died and broke my heart, then I was given two replacement pups, one was deathly ill within 12 hours with PARVO. I had to go through hoops to get my two boys that I have now and they had mange, ear mites, etc. Check out the breeder extremely well, for CA $975 is not a bad price even without AKC, but beware of puppy brokers. If you need more info on the person I dealt with PM me and I will tell you the whole godawful story. |
