Wanna be yorkie Moma Hi, I am new here. I am in the process of doing my research on yorkies, I would like to find a small yorkie, but I am at the stage of reading all that I can find out about yorkies and thought this place would have a lot of good information on all aspects of yorkie care. I live in Florida. If anyone has any good advice for me please let me have it. Nice to meet you all. Tammy

Hi and welcome!! I'm a new yorkie mommy, and I'm really glad I came here before I bought my yorkie. What better way to learn about them than from people who already have them? My best advice to you is to learn everything you can about the breed, the best training methods, learn what you will need to have when you bring your baby home, etc. I can recommend a couple books that I've found helpful. One is "The Yorkshire Terrier" but I can't remember the author's name right now. Another is "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies". Also, researching about breeders and how to avoid puppymills and puppy scams is very important. Learn about the various health problems they can have, find a vet you know you can trust, think about what you will do with your pup if you work outside the home and he/she has to be left alone. There are so many things that are important to know, and you've made the first good step by coming here. You can do a search on most any topic concerning yorkies and if you can't find what you're looking for, ask away!

Wanna be a yorkie Moma Thanks for your welcoming comments. I think I have come to the right place. I have been pulling up all diferent topics and trying to absorb everything. I am in the Gainesville area. I have checked out 3 books from the library and requested more. oh I also bought one book and a magazine from Petsmarts also. I have talked to so many breeders. It is nice to see all this info here. All the yorkie babies are sooo cute. Tammy
