| Ear infection? I think Sophie may have an ear infection. She has been scratching at her ear and it has brownish stuff in it. I cleaned it out really well and it came back in like two days. It smells bad too and her ear feels kinda warm. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow. I thought at first it might just be dirty but now that it came back so quick I am definitley thinking it is an infection. Does it sound like an infection to you?

| Yes. That sounds like an infection, but a number of days of ear drops will fix her right up! But the sooner you get the drops for it, the sooner it'll go away, too. Take care.

| It sounds like ear mites - wipe her ears out with mineral oil on a cotton ball until you can get her into the vet. You will probably be able to see the little white mites in the "coffee grounds looking substance". http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_ear_mites.html |

My furkids Donating Member | Lillie had itchy, yucky ears when I got her...the breeders vet said she had mites....my vet tested her and said he didn't think she had ear mites...he found she had a yeast infection...it took a while to get rid of.

| Thanks guys for your input. I think there is something going on either ear mites or an infection but we will get to the bottom of it tomorrow. I got the day off of work so I will let you all know.

| Katy gets them all of the time. We have had to put her on a maintenance program. Difinitely ear infection. My vet says that it is like allergies for dogs. |

| My new puppy, Bella had her first visit to the vet yesterday and she has a yeast infection in her ears. It is dark brown gunk that comes out and she is now on a rinse and drops twice a day. The vet will test it and let you know exactly what it is. The vet also said that this is common with dogs so good luck. |
