Ear infection?
 
I think Sophie may have an ear infection. She has been scratching at her ear and it has brownish stuff in it. I cleaned it out really well and it came back in like two days. It smells bad too and her ear feels kinda warm. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow. I thought at first it might just be dirty but now that it came back so quick I am definitley thinking it is an infection. Does it sound like an infection to you?

Yes. That sounds like an infection, but a number of days of ear drops will fix her right up! But the sooner you get the drops for it, the sooner it'll go away, too. Take care.:)

It sounds like ear mites - wipe her ears out with mineral oil on a cotton ball until you can get her into the vet. You will probably be able to see the little white mites in the "coffee grounds looking substance".

Hmm when I saw your post I had to read it right away because I have been thinking that Bella may have an ear infection....she doesnt have any liquid or stuff coming from it but there is a little odor and she is either scratching her ear or her face....i cant really tell. When I first got Louie he had stinky ears and the vet gave me these citrus smelling drops, so I dropped a few in Bella's ears but it was very difficult because she just does not stay still for me. They dont smell that bad now but Im keeping an eye on her, and I think she thinks im crazy because I keep picking her up and sniffing her ears. lol.....Good luck at the vet and let us know what it is.

Lizzy gets frequent ear infections....scratching the ears...brown stuff...smelly stuff....yup.... ear infection....

Lillie had itchy, yucky ears when I got her...the breeders vet said she had mites....my vet tested her and said he didn't think she had ear mites...he found she had a yeast infection...it took a while to get rid of.

Thanks guys for your input. I think there is something going on either ear mites or an infection but we will get to the bottom of it tomorrow. I got the day off of work so I will let you all know.:)

Katy gets them all of the time. We have had to put her on a maintenance program.

Difinitely ear infection. My vet says that it is like allergies for dogs.

My new puppy, Bella had her first visit to the vet yesterday and she has a yeast infection in her ears. It is dark brown gunk that comes out and she is now on a rinse and drops twice a day. The vet will test it and let you know exactly what it is. The vet also said that this is common with dogs so good luck.
