| I got my Peanut online. Not many available in my area and pricing was high. I found a breeder of only yorkies and they are raised indoors. She worked at a vets office and even the vet bought one of her puppies. I received emails and pictures. It was still alittle scary buying online, but I was lucky and found a good breeder that cares about her dogs. Peanut flow in from Arkansas to Atlantic City and he was perfect when we received him. He was 13 weeks at the time. I still keep in touch with the breeder and have sent her updates on Peanut and she has asked me to keep in touch from time to time. I know if I ever want another yorkie where to go. Peanut is the sweetest little puppy ever! |

| Thanks for your reply's everyone! You guys explained a lot to me as to why people continue to purchase online! ![]() No specific post prompted this one really. I've been wondering for awhile about this, but never remembered to post about it. Seeing all the threads about scams, and hearing about scams on other sites made me wonder about it. THen when I saw the thread about the scam being in the newspaper it just reminded me that I should post my question.

| I bought my Hope online, SORTA.... I learned so much about Linda here on YT, felt completely comfortable with her. I did not get to meet Hope before I bought her, but met her at the airport when I flew up there to get her. I was lucky enough to meet Linda and could instantly tell how close she was to her babies(Hope wanted nothing to do with me at first)... Linda and I spoke many times prior to our meeting and I felt very good about it from the start but I had the people of YT on my side here.... THANKS LINDA! I love my baby girl...

| OH, I bought Tootie online too. He is a big boy, I knew little about him but spoke to the breeder several times. It is disappointing now that I know what I know that the breeder NEVER asked any questions about me or my family or other pets.... As most of you know, Tootie is totally out of the "accepted" size of look of a YT but he is a precious precious gift to my family! and he is BEAUTIFUL to me no matter what! d

| do a search on YT, there are a few threads about parti colored yorkies. I bought Nigel from a breeder in Louisiana that I found online. She has plenty of references and her dogs have champion lines.. I also found her prices to be reasonable. If I tried to buy one here in NYC, I would be in the poor house. Rates average around 1800. I knew I would have to go out of state. Nigel was shipped, and he came healthy and is adjusting well in his new home with moi! There are scams out there, and I think they are pretty obvious for the most part. See if you can get vet references from them and make sure there are pictures of the parents and that they can be reached easily by phone.

| I purchased my puppy online because I could not find any local breeders and those within 7 hours of driving were charging well over $3K. I had purchased a boston terrier off of a breeder I found on puppydogweb.com before and had an idea of what to ask. Things to think about and ask: - must be AKC registered (they have low standards, but it's something, at least the puppy won't be inbred) - avoid breeders that breed more than 2-3 breeds (probably puppy mills) - avoid certain states known for puppy mills (AK, OK, etc) - ask how old is the mother, how many times has she been bred - where are the dogs and puppies raised (in house, kennel, etc) - how old will they ship the puppy (good breeders won't let them go before 10-12 weeks) - are they socialized (cats? kids?) - if they don't ask you any questions it's a bad sign! |

Parti carrier: Looks just like a traditional yorkie, but paired with another parti carrier or parti colored yorkie will throw some spotted babies Parti colored: means exactly that - it's a parti colored ie a spotted baby!

| I was looking for AKC regiestered girl. I couldn't find any in the state I lived in, so I looked online. Called about 1, a good ways from here, and was really given the "run around" when I asked questions. Saw another breeder within my driving range for a day, but they said "for the puppies saftey, you couldn't see the kennels". I smelled chit on that one too! I found a breeder with 3 females, within an hour of here, on one website. They were great about answering questions too, so I drove over to check them out, and thats when I got Venus. Their kennels were a/c and heated, very clean, and she had about 6 of her dogs inside the house, which meant to me, she loved yorkies a lot! I got health guarantee, a tube of Neutra-cal (which I'd never heard of at the time), a few cans of food, and a bunch of kibble we're still working on, and papers goinng back 3 generations. She only raised yorkies, btw. I just didn't have the heart to fly one, and really wanted to see the dog before I spent that much on her too. I got mine for less than what all was advertised on the internet, after you pay for $250 in shipping. Glad I did, took only 1 hour drive each way. Now looking back with what I've learned from this site, I think one of the websites I was looking at must have had a lot of puppy mills on it. Lots from MO and OK. Venus is healthy, and a very happy puppy! |
