I agree, give him a few days to settle in and then get him groomed. It will be easier on him and for you. Good luck.

congrats on your new baby.....he is a cutie pie....it just bothers me to no end that ppl let yorkies or any dog for that matter get in this cond. you know what i mean....they have feelings to and i know from experiance with Bo he gets shy when he is not groomed so i can imagine what this little guy is going through....good luck and thank God you got him now he will forsure be takencare of big *hugs* to you for taking him.

I agree with the others that said to put off the grooming for a little while. Give him a chance to get used to you and his new home. If you can brush him gently and he doesn't seem stressed or uncomfortable than fine but don't push him too hard.

Well all, I read all the posts too late. I groomed him. I used my daughters detangler. This little sweetie sat like an angel for the whole time. I was very gentle and took my time. You cannot believe how beautiful he really is. I was going to take pics but camera battery is dead. I will post in the morning. I am so happy that I could count on all of you for great advise. I am so excited! I can't wait to take pics in the morning for all of you to see. Again Thank you so much for all the great input. Now I just need a name. His name is Aspen, I really do not care for that. New home new start new name. See ya all in the morning. Meeshue

Congrats on your new little boy. He is so lucky a YT member got him. I think they know when they are rescued out of a bad deal. He is a cutie in the first pic's. Can't wait to see pic's of him in the morning.

I suggest the name Lucky. he is a doll an was lucky you save him and brought him to a safe loving home! Good luck with your charming boy!

When I got Mazie, I couldn't stand it...I had to groom her right away too. But it really seemed to help her feel "lighter", and better about herself! I think so often animals know when we're trying to help them, and even when they don't like what we're doing, they feel the love and concern.

Hello all, I am ready to post pics of Aspen. Keep in mind he did not have a bath yet! I am waiting until he calms down and gets used to his new enviroment. We had a great night last night. He slept with me, and did not move a muscle until 6 am when he had to go potty. I am so pleased with him! He is gentle and loving and get along great with my 5 yr old daughter. I am so happy that I was the one to get him. I would have paid the $100 just to get him out of that house he was in. After I got all the matts out yesterday he was like a different dog. He felt so much better! I cannot believe that these people let him go like that. The husband said to me, because I commented on how matted his was, Oh all he needs is a good brushing! YAH RIGHT! Well anyway I hope you like the pics. My camera is not taking very good pics right now. Don't know what the problem is, but I must get it fixed. I love taking pics. That middle picture shows him very well and he's cute! Once he's bathed and cared for by you for awhile he is going to be one gorgeous yorkie!
